Feeling a little under the weather this winter? Or maybe having trouble staying motivated? Well you are definitely not alone! Winter time blues is a real thing, and they can make getting shit done way too hard. Everyone has experienced this in one way or another, especially living in the PNW, but dont fret! There are plenty of winter pick me ups that can make the winter time feel a little happier, sunnier and much more enjoyable.

Face Masks

Some of the smallest things can take your mood from a 2 to a 10. A nice face mask or scrub is the perfect way to calm any nerves or anxieties and to use that time to just RELAX.

Take a bath

Candles? Music? Bath bombs??? Any of these combined with taking a little soak is sure to have you feeling relaxed and ready to take on anything.

Tea

Not only does drinking a warm cup of tea have the power to make you feel like you have your life together, its health benefits add in for an extra bonus. Its an easy way to bring you to your senses and keep you ready for the day, or to wind down before ending your day.

Petting some DOGS

If you haven’t tried petting a dog while you were even slightly stressed out, you need to get out there and do that right now. 

Going for a scenic walk

You don’t have to be an outdoorsy type to enjoy a nature walk. Getting yourself active and taking on a scenic walk is a sure way to bring you prespective. It acts as a nice time to think, feel appreciative, and to let go of any negative or stressful feelings.

Let some light in

Sometimes, it’s easy to get trapped in that “mancave” atmosphere during the winter. You know, the dark, cozy, warm room where all you want to do is lay down, eat and watch Netflix?? Try opening the blinds in your room and throughout the house every morning when you wake up. A brighter room makes productivity much more possible and getting motivated so much easier.

Retail therapy

Who doesn’t love some good retail therapy? Of course, more so if your bank can afford it, but whether you feel like going on a shopping spree or just simply buying one small item that you want, it’s an easy way to make any dull winter day feel a little brighter.

Staying healthy and active

Endless amounts of reasearch have proven that staying active and working out releases endorphins in your body which interact with receptors in your brain to ease pain and make you feel better. Staying fit and healthy not only has physical results, but awesome mental and confidence results too. It’s science, you can’t argue science.

Keeping in touch with family and friends

Family and friends ultimately know you better than anyone. Keeping in touch, especially with those you may be farther away from, is a great way to keep connections, stay in the loop and a great way to boost and brighten any bad mood.

Self love

The most powerful way of snapping out of any funk is through your own self love. Pepping yourself with positive and happy thoughts in the mornings, before a test, while working out or during any time you may need some positivity is the absolute best way to beat any bad mood. Remember your worth, remember how amazing you are, and you’ll be able to make it out of winter.
