Happy end of semester and happy (almost) summer!
While there were many fun and exciting things this semester, I don’t think I’m alone in saying it was also a busy and stressful one. Coming down with both a sickness and an injury in the last week of it was certainly not what I had hoped for, and I’m taking it as a sign that I need to reset and refresh before diving into work this summer and then gearing up for the Fall semester.
I’m taking the next few weeks (after my final, of course) to relax and prioritize things that make me feel good physically and mentally. Here are some ideas you can embrace as well!
- Deleting social media
-
Only for a few weeks!
I’m actually not someone who sees social media as entirely bad, as I think it creates amazing opportunities and connections. However, whenever I get into a mental rut, I notice my scrolling time going way up. I want to move away from it being a habit or the first thing I do whenever I open my phone, so deleting the apps for a bit will give me more time to embrace other tasks or hobbies, as well as limit comparison.
- Sleep!
-
Especially at the end of the semester, there are so many fun things happening, and people I want to spend as much time as possible with. A lot of these things are happening at night, and with morning classes, work, and other commitments, my sleep schedule has definitely taken a bit of a hit. I would never regret spending time with my friends, but as schoolwork fades away, I’m making sure to get my full eight hours as many nights as possible to fully bring my stress levels down.
- Coffee over energy drinks
-
I don’t know about you, but my caffeine intake definitely got a little out of hand this semester. I love the boost, but in this time period when I’m less busy, I want to try and stick to the more natural options whenever possible.
I hope these gave you some ideas for taking back control at the end of the semester! My goal is to feel calmer and have more time and excitement to embrace hobbies and activities that fall to the side during the semester.
Happy Summer!
