College life at BU can be fast-paced and overwhelming. But sometimes, it’s the little things that can totally turn your day around. Whether you’re running between classes on Comm Ave. or need a mood boost during midterms, here are five easy ways to brighten your day — all tailored for Terriers.

Take a stroll along the Esplanade

Since classes, clubs, and exams can be stressful, we often forget the importance of taking a break and reconnecting with nature.

Head over to the Charles River Esplanade for a walk, or sit by the river. The Charles is only a short walk from campus and is perfect for de-stressing, listening to a podcast, or catching the sunset.

Grab a pick-me-up at your favorite cafe

Whether it’s Pavement, Starbucks, or Tatte Bakery, a quick coffee break can totally change your mood.

Nothing says “you’ve got this” like your go-to coffee order does. Plus, if you have a lot going on, you can also do your homework!

Explore a new place in Boston

Hop on the T or go for a walk to explore the beautiful city of Boston outside of BU’s campus. A change of scenery can be a nice escape from school, even if it’s just for a short while.

Some suggestions include stopping by a bakery in the North End, visiting the animals at the New England Aquarium, or going to the Boston Common.

Pause for the view

Take a break to look at the incredible views of the city from the BU bridge or the upper floors of StuVi II and CDS.

Take a few minutes to pause. Remind yourself why you chose Boston as your home, and reflect on how far you’ve come. Bonus points if you watch the sunset!

Catch up with a friend

College days can feel like a whirlwind, but carving out even a brief moment to meet a friend, whether it’s in between classes, over coffee, or while strolling down Bay State, can completely change your mood.

Grab a snack at the dining hall or head to the GSU. Whether you’re venting about a tough lecture or laughing about something random, that face-to-face connection can ground you and give you a mood boost.

Next time your day feels overwhelming, try one of these simple resets.

You’re living in one of the most vibrant cities in the country, so don’t forget to pause and make the most of it while you can!
