3 Easy, Crafty Ways to De-Stress Yourself Leading Up to Exams

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

With only a few weeks left in the semester, the pressure is finally coming down. With papers, projects, and exam prep, it seems like you’re constantly running on high stress. As the clock keeps ticking and you continually find your time running out and work adding up, you feel like your drowning.

Here are some easy ways to cope with the stress of the final stretch:

1. Coloring

Coloring is probably one of my favorite ways to take my mind off all the work I need to get done. Grab some colored pencils—or pens—and let the color flow from your mind. I personally love coloring with fine tip colored pens or outlining with pen and coloring in with pencils.

2. Making Lists

I’m definitely a Type A person. Usually, when I feel like I have to please the whole world, I like to write down what I need to get done. In a sense, it can help condense what you need to get done in a more manageable way. If you feel like being crafty, make it a cute to do list or if you want something more practical, use Wunderlist to write up all your to-dos (groceries, work, books to read).

3. Take care of yourself

If I don’t sleep, exercise or eat enough, I can’t expect myself to accomplish everything I need to. It is okay to prioritize yourself rather than drown yourself in work. If you are feeling overwhelmed, hit the gym, get some fresh produce from the farmers market in the North End or get some zzzz’s.

I wish you all the best of luck with the remainder of the semester!
