Get Fit For Summer- With the Help of Social Media

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Aberdeen chapter.

So the clocks have gone forward and we all know what that means… SUMMER! Well, I’ll not get too carried away we do live in Scotland after all. Even so, with the longer days approaching so too comes the pressure of achieving that ‘bikini body’ for summer. The magazines start to publish the ‘lose 10 pounds in 3 days’ nonsense and send girls turning to a frenzy of crazy and unhealthy weight loss approaches, this is unnecessary. It’s only April so there is plenty of time to get fit for summer in a healthy way and the world of social media gives you access to more advice than you could shake a celery stick at.

There are more fitness and health Instagrammers, Youtubers and Tweeters than ever before and here are a few that will get you on the track to your Beyoncé body in a healthy way!

Twitter

Fitness Motivation @BeFitMotivation

If you are a twitter addict who is looking to get fit give this account a follow, posting daily motivational quotes, exercise tips along with general fun health and fitness facts and pictures! With 1.4 million followers it must be doing something right.

Fitness & Nutrition @FITNESS

The account bio says it all ‘daily tips on health, nutrition, fitness, dieting and more’! A quick scroll down through their tweets such as ‘just remember, the fat will last longer than the flavour’ and you’ll want to put down that packet of crisps…

Healthy Food @BeFitFoods

A sister account of @BeFitMotivation it posts pictures of healthy foods that will have you dreaming of smoothies and salads. Some people fail to realise that it’s 80% what you eat and 20% you do that will get you in shape, so follow accounts that promote the right things to eat to help you keep on track. It’s all well and good going to the gym for 2 hours but then to come home and eat a pizza is not going to help! They also have an Instagram account!

Cassey proves you don’t need to have a gym membership to get fit, all her exercise regimes can be carried out without evening leaving the comfort of your own home. She also has a blog and an instagram where she posts recipe ideas, my favourite is her 2 eggs, 1 banana pancakes… honestly that’s it and they taste great!
