Starbucks is doing a lot more than dropping holiday drinks and merch this year — the company also rolled out Merrython, the 2025 edition of its Starbucks for Life game that debuted in 2024 to much fanfare.
This year’s version, Starbucks for Life Merrython, features a mini travel adventure. Players begin by picking one of four coffee-loving characters and launch into a 1 minute and 30 second dash through Seattle, Milan, Tokyo, and New York City to grab as many red cups as you can, turning the whole thing into a fast paced challenge. Each city provides players with chances to earn instant win prizes like drinks, treats, and Bonus Stars, plus sweepstakes entries toward free Starbucks for the entire year or for life.
The game officially runs now through Jan. 4. Playing is super easy — every player gets one free Prize Play and one sweepstakes entry each week, with the option to earn up to two Prize Plays per day through qualifying purchases. And if you don’t want to play or make a purchase at all, you can still enter the sweepstakes. Starbucks offers a no-purchase entry option through its website, so anyone can join the sweepstakes just by submitting the online form.
Timing matters most for the big rewards. Anyone who plays during the weeks of Dec. 22 and Dec. 29 is automatically entered into a separate drawing for Starbucks for a year, which is basically the dream scenario for anyone whose morning routine depends on caffeine. But the prize that has already dominated social media is the Glass Bearista Cold Cup. Following the cup’s viral drop in November, Starbucks added it as a major Merrython prize — with 17,000 of them being given away during the game. So if you missed the initial release, playing Merrython might actually be your best chance to snag the cup everyone still can’t stop talking about.
