I’ll say it: 2023 is officially the year of weird celebrity pairings. With those Kendall Jenner and Bad Bunny dating rumors still swirling (and don’t even get me started on Timmy T and Kylie Jenner), I thought that nothing would shock me anymore. That is until I logged onto Twitter this morning: I didn’t even have my coffee yet, and I was not ready for this new, rumored duo.
On May 3, The Sun published an article claiming that Taylor Swift and Matty Healy (yes, The 1975’s frontman) are dating. According to the article, the couple got together recently after Swift’s split with Joe Alwyn (which was said to take place in February 2023) and are gearing up to take things public. Similarly, Healy has been linked to both singer FKA Twigs and model Charlotte D’Alessio in 2022, though he’s been known to keep his love life extremely private. Her Campus reached out to both Healy and Swift’s teams for comment but did not hear back by the time of publication.
Honestly? I’m not opposed to the rumored couple, I’m just kind of shocked. This was not on my bingo card, or anyone else’s, really. So, naturally, once the internet caught wind of these rumors, they spread like wildfire. Overnight, Twitter flooded with emotional reactions, and delightfully out-of-pocket memes, from Gen Z. And in true online fashion, the overall response has been pretty hilarious.
Seriously, do they know they’re “dating?”
