Love Is Blind: After the Altar Season 3 is out, and I have so many questions. By this point, I think it’s pretty clear that we all know just how hectic the season of this reality dating television show really was. One couple, in particular, stands out in my eyes as the most confusing (and toxic) of them all. Yes, I’m talking about Nancy and Bartise, of course. Spoiler alert: Spoilers for Love Is Blind: After the Altar Season 3 follow.
While they may not have gotten married during Season 3, I’ve always felt like there may have been some lingering feelings left between the two. This feeling of mine was heightened after I saw in the trailer for the mini series that they had been spending a good amount of time together since their breakup. I think I’ve seen this film before, and I didn’t like the ending.
However, when I found out on Jan. 17 that Bartise was set to appear in Netflix’s new reality dating TV show, Perfect Match, it left me just so utterly confused. Did Nancy and Bartise get back together before he filmed Perfect Match, or are they still *not* together? After the Altar answered a few of my burning questions, so I’m here to dish.
Nancy and Bartise hung out quite a bit after filming Love is Blind.
During the first episode of After the Altar, Nancy and Bartise met up to catch up once again. When I say once again, I really mean again, because we quickly learn that the two have been seeing each other “frequently over the past year” since filming wrapped.
Bartise attributes their close connection to the fact that “Nancy’s different [from] any other ex. I’ve never been engaged before.” He went on to reveal that they always have fun when they hang out, and that he wants her in her life. Nancy reiterated their connection when she told Bartise, “I like to be around you, you are a good person, and I think good people are hard to find. It makes sense to have you in my life.”
Girl, we all know what happens when you try to be friends with your ex! Even though the two supposedly agreed to be just friends, there was some major flirtatious energy going on between them. Really, how could there not: They were engaged, for crying out loud.
Nancy revealed to the girls that things “got a little intimate” with Bartise one night.
When the final five ladies of Season 3 got together for brunch during After the Altar, Nancy shared some tea about her relationship with Bartise. While Alexa asked if they had ever hooked up after calling off their engagement, Nancy said no, but she went on to reveal that “there was one night [where] things got a little intimate.” OMG.
Rule number one of staying friends with your ex: Don’t. Nancy went on to explain that the next morning she was not happy with herself, pronouncing that she really wanted to work on establishing boundaries moving forward.
Nancy’s family was *not* here for them being “friends.”
Nancy had an emotional moment with both her mom and brother during After the Altar where she revealed that she had spent some time with Bartise. They felt that the “friendship” didn’t benefit Nancy in any way, and that it was just hindering her if anything. Nancy visibly broke down in this conversation, and we were able to see just how visibly hurt she was being just Bartise’s friend.
She ended up telling Bartise that they couldn’t be friends any longer.
In the end, when both Nancy and Bartise were at Alexa’s birthday party, they ended up having a conversation about their friend-situationship. Nancy did exactly what she set out to do: She set her boundaries. While it was clear that the two still shared an undeniable chemistry (even amidst this friend breakup moment), Nancy told Bartise she couldn’t stay friends with him. Bartise wasn’t too happy about this, but I’m so proud that Nancy stood up for herself and did what was going to make her happiest in the end.
So, no: Nancy and Bartise did not get back together.
While it’s still a little unclear what lines were crossed after Love is Blind Season 3 ended, it’s looking like Nancy and Bartise never got back together before (or after) he went on Perfect Match.
