Gen Z has no clue how to invest money (really, how does one do that?), but does know how to invest their time into popular celebrity relationships. Whether it’s following the breakups of our favorite TikTok stars, sleuthing for the scoop on a rumored, soft-launched boyfriend (Nessa Barrett, I’m looking at you), or simply taking the time to follow a couple’s relationship timeline, Gen Z follows celebrity relationships like it’s their job.
Right now, Hollywood is in a Joey King renaissance, following her role in Bullet Train. Known for her roles in The Act, The Kissing Booth series, and the iconic Ramona And Beezus (costarring alongside Selena Gomez, mind you), King has made a name for herself as one of the most versatile actresses in Hollywood — and I love that for her! It’s Joey King’s world currently, and I’m just living in it.
What’s even more interesting than King’s variety of roles (and her dope personality and style, obvi) is her dating history. For the most part, King has kept her relationships private — only choosing to go public when the relationship is strong enough to withstand the press. Her dating history? It’s just like King — unproblematic.
Jacob Elordi: April 2017 — November 2018
King’s first high-profile relationship was with her Kissing Booth costar, and Euphoria cast member, Jacob Elordi. After the first Kissing Booth film in May 2018, viewers definitely picked up on the chemistry between the two. Then, in November 2018, King and Elordi made it IG official in a since-deleted post, and fans were loving it.
However, internet sleuths noticed that the couple had deleted all of their photos together in November 2018. Shortly after, Elordi actually deactivated his Instagram with a cryptic story saying, “I’m incredibly grateful to be able to connect with so many of you. I’m going to be signing off on this whole social media shabang while I work. Cheers for everything, stay happy :).”
Luckily, it seems like the two are now on good terms. In August 2021, Elordi shared a few images to his IG story from the premiere of The Kissing Booth 3 — including a photo of King captioned, “And one from the start @joeyking. Thank you all of you [red heart emoji].” We love a healthy relationship.
STEVEN PIET: CIRCA 2019 — Present
After her breakup with Elordi, King was linked to Steven Piet — a producer on The Act (King’s role in the show snagged her a 2019 Emmy nomination, FYI). King went on to soft-launch their relationship through various artistic mediums in late 2019 and early 2020 before posting a hard-launch in February 2020.
In March 2022, the couple announced on Instagram that they’ve been engaged for about a month, after several years of dating. To this day, they continue to post adorable photos of themselves on Instagram, as well as appear together on the Red Carpet. Ramona Quimby is all grown up, y’all!
