In 2023, the world might be getting a groundbreaking Hannah Montana and Wizards of Waverly Place crossover. Yes, you heard that right. Two of the most adored stars of Gen Z’s lives, Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus, may be teaming up to grace us with new music — at least, that’s what some fans think based on potential social media clues. Her Campus reached out to Gomez’s team for comment, but didn’t hear back by the time of publication.

At her New Year’s Eve party, Cyrus revealed that she will be releasing her new album Endless Summer Vacation on March 10 as well as her single “Flowers” ahead of the album release. Following the announcement, fans were already booting up for the drop as this marked her first music release since her 2020 album Plastic Hearts. Well, it’s safe to say that when “Flowers” dropped on Jan. 13 (aka ex-husband Liam Hemsworth’s birthday), fans were not disappointed. The single gave a taste of what to expect from her new album: iconic and maybe a little messy. With the single being released on Hemsworth’s birthday and lyrics calling him out, fans are starting to wonder what other bombs Cyrus will drop on this album.

The internet sleuths never sleep. Acting on the excitement surrounding her album and single, fans got to work on dissecting every easter egg of possible features. It seems like all signs point to the one and only queen Gomez. So far, neither pop star has commented on the rumors, but with hints dating back to May 2022 and recent interactions between the two, fans might not be too far off. Will we finally get a Cyrus and Gomez collab?

Gomez paid homage to one of Cyrus’ music videos.

On May 2, 2022, Gomez came to TikTok to have some fun on her story by recreating Cyrus’ “Angels Like You” music video. Though the two have shown support for one another since their Disney days, fans are starting to look back at this story as more than just a friend showing support, and a potential hint at a future musical collab.

Gomez shouted Cyrus out on SNL.

Not too long after her TikTok story, Gomez made her Saturday Night Live (SNL) debut on May 14, 2022. In her opening monologue, she shared that Cyrus gave her advice for the show and then impersonated the star and her country accent. Cyrus responded to the monologue by taking to Instagram to show off her in a tank top with the words from Gomez’s SNL moment on it.

Though this might just be friendly banter, fans can’t seem to forget about these two moments as this is the most interaction they have seen from the two singers since their Instagram Live together back in 2020.

Gomez showed her support for Cyrus’ new music on social media.

Following the announcement at her New Year’s Eve party, Cyrus posted on Instagram on Jan. 5, revealing the album title and cover. Gomez hyped up the new album with a one-word comment: “Damn.” This one word caused fans to go into a frenzy thinking there might be a collab in the near future.

On the same day of Cyrus’ Instagram album announcement, Gomez posted a GRWM with Cyrus’ song “Never Be Me” playing in the background. The subtle song choice grabbed fans’ attention, with the video garnering over 1.6 million likes and over 10k comments. The majority of those comments were fans completely going crazy over this potential easter egg. One fan wrote, “The Miley audio? Y’all she’s definitely on the album.” Another commented, “why [is] this song specifically Miley Cyrus and her album comes soon sooooo is it a collab or……what.”

PSA I got most of these products free. I ain’t just rolling like that everywhere. Use any serum to take off make up before washing. It breaks it up nicely. Also use a sponge to wipe eyes to treat eyes delicately when removing make up. K I’m done pretending I know what I’m taking about.

Gomez showing her support for Cyrus might be all it is, but it’s enough for fans to grab all the clues from May 2022 to now, and camp out for the album release on March 10. TBH, if I see a “ft. Selena Gomez” on Endless Summer Vacation, I apologize in advance because that song will be my personality for the next month. In the meantime, a girl can dream.
