Alright guys, it is officially the middle of the spring semester and I am officially burnt out. Seriously. It is hard to stay motivated with so many things going on in our lives as college students. With that being said, I am providing five different ways to de-stress and re-charge so we can all get through this semester.

  1. Go workout!

Hear me out guys- working out seriously helps to de-stress. Just take a ten-minute walk on the treadmill, stretch silently in a corner for twenty minutes while playing relaxing music in your headphones, do something that will take your mind off that schoolwork you need to do. While it may not seem like it is worth your time in the beginning, I promise your head will be cleared the second you are done with the workout.

2. Treat yo’self

My personal favorite on this list. We are taking big steps in our lives and we deserve to have things that we want. Think of this as a reward- think about something great you did this week and buy yourself something for it. It does not have to be expensive, just something that makes you happy.

3. Write in a journal

Expressing thoughts and emotions will get them out of your head. Sometimes we bottle our stresses up because we want to ignore them, but this overall is not good for us. Emotions deserve to be felt. Let them out and clear your mind so you can continue tackling coursework.

4. Take a walk with a friend

Seeing my friends instantly makes me happier. Something about being with a friend makes you forget about anything that is causing you to be stressed out. Walk, talk, and catch up with someone that you have not seen in a while. Relationships are important to maintain- do not let schoolwork get in between them.

5. Take a break when you need to

Do not try to overwork yourself just to get things done. Take a nap when you have to, go to bed early enough where you are not awake in the middle of the night, and just know your limits. I know what it is like to stress over assignments and it can seriously take a toll on your mental health.
