Maybe you’re like me, and you’ve decided 2022 was the year you were going to finally start working out.

But, the idea of going to a university gym filled with college boys benching your entire body weight freaks you out. So, you find a workout on YouTube for beginners and roll out a yoga mat over your dorm room floor.

Only to realize you’re not doing as well as the girl in your video, because she’s a professional and has been doing this for years while you’re just a beginner… So, as you struggle to hold a plank for 30 seconds, you pray and pray and pray that your roommate won’t come back anytime soon.

You realize you need more breaks than you originally anticipated, and that your body is so new to this that you have to modify everything. And as the workout ends, you feel beaten down and sweaty. But you sleep well that night.

Then, you wake up. And your body feels like lead. You can’t walk down stairs without leaning on the railing. Lifting your arms to brush your hair seems too impossible a feat. As you try to make your way to class, you start to regret your every decision. Then the workout schedule you made for yourself no longer applies, because there’s no way you can workout again after that.

So you wait until your muscles aren’t sore again, only to realize carving out time in your day to workout is harder than you realized. Your period starts, and you absolutely don’t want to work out for the next few days. You keep deciding you’ll watch another episode on Netflix today and do your workout tomorrow.

Then you finally find the time, and you put on your workout clothes and find another video and you hit “begin.”

Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
