First up is one of my personal favourites – Blown Away.
Watch a group of international glassblowers compete through the ferocious heat of a hot shop to create ‘mind-blowing’ masterpieces made purely out of blown glass! I know what you’re thinking – what’s so exciting about watching people blow glass? I thought so too until I started watching Netflix’s Blown Away. We’re talking buckets of sweat, ‘shattered’ hopes and dreams and an insane amount of artistry and skill!
There is nothing more enthralling and heart-breaking than watching someone work on a piece for hours, just to have it break into a million pieces 10 minutes before the deadline. Yet the show is all about perseverance and making the best out of the terrible situation you’re in, so its so amazing to see people adapt and suceed. When they are able to pull off a glass-blowing sucess, it is so satisfying to see a piece be taken from conception all the way to exhibiton and be executed so flawlessly.

This show can get really intense just to watch, let alone compete in! It has really made me appreciate the sheer amount of effort, hardwork and insane talent that goes into glass-blowing and it has really made me respect the craft in a way I overlooked before. Every episode they have a new brief/challenge and it’s really fun to see all the diverse and creative pieces they come up with. A lot of the contestants are also really interesting characters with really eccentric personalities, so it’s fun to get to know them more as the competition progresses. My favourite contestants from Season 1 were: Deborah Czresesko, Alexander Rosenberg, Patrick Primeau and Edgar Valentine!

Another awesome yet widely underrated show on Netflix is Big Flower Fight! IT’S JUST LIKE BAKE OFF BUT FOR GARDENING!
Watch the most creative and interesting gardeners you’ll ever see compete to create the most outlandish, incredible, ginormous sculptures out of flowers and recycled materials! From huge animals to fashion shows and fairytale recreations, who knew the possibilities for gardening could be so endless!
I was rooting for my two spectacular faves, Henck and Yan, all the way through Season 1. They were by far the most talented team (in my opinion), and their outfits were one of the best parts of the show! My other two favourites were Sarah and Jordan, because they made such a great pair and worked so well together to create beautiful and intricate pieces. Likewise, this competition got really intense and let’s just say the controversial final of Season 1 had me in hysterics, screaming at the screen…
