It’s that time of year when the nights get colder and the days become shorter; Halloween is approaching fast, and the countdown begins for all things spooky, silly, and scary. Whether you go all out for this holiday or like to spend a girls’ night in, finding that perfect Halloween costume can be just as frightening as seeing a ghost.
If you need some inspiration, this is the right place. I’ve found some fun ideas for just you, a couples fit, or my personal favorite, a group costume. These looks will have you looking your best and winning that “coolest costume” award!
Single Costumes
- CLEOPATRA
-
There are so many options for a great costume that it’s a bit overwhelming to narrow just one. If you want some more unique looks, however, I have a few cute options that will let you stand out from the crowd.
Up first, we have Cleopatra. This look is really fun with a bunch of gold accessories and hair pieces, so you can really personalize it to fit your style.
- BLACK SWAN
-
Next is Natalie Portman’s look from the psychological thriller Black Swan. This is perfect for a more eerie costume while still dressing up. The makeup is stunning, and you can let your artistic skills flow. You could also wear her white swan outfit if you prefer that look!
- LADYBUG & BUMBLEBEE
-
Finally, if you want something a bit simpler, being a ladybug or a bumblebee would be super easy with just a red or yellow polka-dot top and some wings. Polka-dots are everywhere right now, so you might already have everything you need!
COUPLE COSTUMES
- DEAN & ALLIE
-
If you’re looking to match with your partner, there are a few options that might catch your eye! Over the summer, the show, Off Campus, was a big hit and quickly took over all social media, specifically the fling between the characters Dean and Allie.
A great costume would be to dress as their costumes in the show: Jennifer Lopez and Maverick. It’s an easy look with a floral green dress and the jumpsuit for the aviator outfit.
- Jean Grey & Cyclops
-
Of course, superheroes are always a popular choice. With Marvel’s upcoming X-Men movies, doing a Jean Grey and Cyclops aka Scott Summers pair would be perfect. There are so many variations of their iconic looks to pick from. Doing their older 80s costumes could be super fun!
- Princess Buttercup & Westley
-
Another great option is Princess Buttercup and Westley from The Princess Bride. This is a rare costume that would definitely make you two the highlight of the night. It’s simple yet chic and could easily come together.
Group Costumes
- Winx Club Fairies
-
Finally, we have the best choice in my opinion: group costumes! I think these are so cute to do with friends, and they make for the best photos. The Disney princess costumes are a classic, but if you want to change it up a bit, do the fairies from the show Winx Club. It still encompasses that girly feel while being an uncommon choice.
Each girl can decorate her wings, use her favorite colors, and choose from multiple choices depending on the size of your group. You could also substitute the Disney fairies like Tinkerbell and her friends, whichever is more nostalgic for your party!
- The Scooby Gang
-
Since it’s Halloween, I have to mention Scooby-Doo as a classic option. This is perfect for a co-ed costume and just matches the scary and silly vibe of the holiday. There are also many versions of the characters’ outfits, so you can find the one that’s best for you!
- Music Artist Outfits
-
Lastly, do your favorite artist’s concert looks. For all the Swifties, having each person do an Era look as their costume would be so cute. Harry Styles could also be a really fun option. You could even kick it old school by doing a One Direction costume (bonus points if you carry around any old poster or merch of the band).
The last step to the perfect outfit is always looking at the weather in case you need to layer. Make sure your look doesn’t go to waste. Make sure you stay safe this holiday season, because looking fierce and feeling good is what Halloween is all about.
I hope your holiday is filled with tricks and treats, and having your costume ready will make you one step ahead of the game. I’m excited to see the best looks this season, and I’m sure your outfit will be one of them. Now, with this new inspiration, I can finish my costume and prepare for the big night. Have fun this spooky season and Happy Halloween!
