5 Nontraditional Workout Spots in Dallas

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SMU chapter.

Whether you workout everyday, made a New Year’s resolution to start working out more often, or simply just hate the gym scene, it is easy for the gym to get old, boring or simply dreadful after seeing that one cute guy for the fifth time as you’re dying on the treadmill.

For those days you can’t fathom swiping into Dedman or your local gym, there are endless fitness options scattered across Dallas where you can focus on your workout and not the fear of running into someone you know.

1. Go on a bike ride or run along one of Dallas’ many nature trails

Our favorites include Katy Trail, White Rock Lake Park Trail, and the Trinity Skyline Trail. Photo by Ryan McGuire.

2. Title Boxing Club

Embrace your inner Gigi Hadid and get a workout that truly works all muscle groups. Located at 4140 Lemmon Ave., Ste. 275, Dallas 75219, your first class is free! Photo by Mark Sebastian.

3. City Surf Fitness

This workout class gives you the feeling of surfing on water and causes you to engage your muscles and work on your flexibility and ability to balance. Your first week is free! Photo by m.maddo.

4. Summit Climbing

This unique spot features rock climbing, yoga and fitness. Rock climbing is a great workout to do with friends that doesn’t feel like a workout in the moment but definetly leaves you sore the next day. Photo by Mars Williams.

5. Lync Cycling

Located close to campus in Snider Plaza, this spin location will give you a great workout and doesn’t even require an uber to get there. This spin location is only a few doors down from Nekter, which makes it a perfect morning workout spot to get in a great workout and a delicious post-workout breakfast.
