Lose the Freshman 15: The Best Low-Calorie Desserts!

Okay, okay, so the word “best” can be used pretty subjectively here. What I mean is that while I was thinking about what to write for today’s post, I was looking through my “Lose the Freshman 15” Pinterest board and noticed how mind-numbingly delicious a lot of the recipes for desserts were. If there is one thing a sweet-tooth addict like myself knows, is that when you miraculously find an amazing dessert that causes extremely little guilt, you latch onto it for dear life. So, I thought I’d share my favorite low-calorie dessert recipes [personally tested by me] with all you collegiettes, so you can literally have your cake [and muffins, cookies…] and eat it too!

Top left: Carrot cake. Who DOESN’T love Carrot Cake? I mean really, almost no matter where you get it from, it’s pretty much perfection. This recipe is no different; it tastes great and has 3X less calories per serving than the average slice of cake. Recipe can be found here.

Top center: Oatmeal and Peanut butter Ricotta Cookies. At first I was a bit hesitant because cheese in cookies kind of weirds me out, but I love PB so I figured why not. These cookies definitely did not disappoint! Chewy, flavorful, and only 50 calories per every 5 cookies. Recipe can be found here.

Top right: ‘Skinny Monkey’ Cookies. Like a chocolate, breakfast-esque granola bar but in cookie form. Highly recommend for those mornings when you’re in a rush but still want something with chocolate in it for breakfast. Recipe can be found here.

Bottom left: Oatmeal Chocolate-Chip Cookie Bars. Addicting. There really is nothing else to say. My sister may or may not have had to keep me from eating the entire batch…Recipe can be found here.

Bottom right: ‘Clean-eating’ Chocolate muffins. Tantalizing, melted, chocolatey goodness. Only 58 calories per muffin? um more please. To make, just use regular cake mix, but substitute the usual eggs, oil, and milk in favor of greek yogurt, cocoa, and applesauce.

Go ahead, unleash your inner Rachel Ray and make and enjoy one of these fabulous recipes during those hot, lazy, beautiful days of summer we have ahead of us. Eating healthy is a lifestyle, but everyone deserves a little dessert indulgence every so often. Hopefully all of you enjoy these as much as I do. Also, has anyone else seen the rest of Heidi Klum’s collection for New Balance? I. WANT. EVERYTHING! Especially this tanktop, ASAP. Darn my #poorcollegestudent status. Don’t forget everyone to register for the second round of Dietbet, keep following the Drop10 Diet, and keep guzzling that Zico cocounut water and follow me on Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest. Until next time, bye guys!
