Lose the Freshman 15: 12 Minute Ab Workout


Hello Collegiettes!


Today I want to share my favorite abdominal and core exercises with you.  Let me break your heart real quick, doing crunches and these exercises will not get you a six-pack.  However, doing these exercises will make your core strong, help you stand up straighter, protect your lower back, and give you definition when the fat over your abdominal muscles is gone.  Doing core exercises builds muscle and definition, where doing cardio exercises like sprints and intense cardio (check out those workouts!) will help gets rid of fat.  Most importantly is diet – abs are DEFINITLY made in the kitchen.   So keep that diet in check!

Do each for 30 seconds, and repeat 3x total.  Remember faster is not better, use slow and controlled movements.  If you are unsure on form, check out videos on the web for proper demonstration!

  • Supermans
  • Russian Twists
  • Tummy Tucks (In a plank position, bring knee into same elbow)
  • Bicycles
  • Reverse Crunches
  • Supermans
  • V- Sit Hold
  • Starfish (Lie flat on ground with hands extended overhead.  Reach arm for opposite foot, while keeping other arm on ground)
