Let’s be honest — when it comes to dating, it’s never just a solo act. We often go to our friends and family for dating advice, for what they think you should put on your profile, and even for what they think about the person you’re seeing or talking to. Hinge has taken this into consideration and has launched a new feature that allows the people closest to users to help with their love life: Friend’s Take.
On July 15, the app Friend’s Take, a feature that allows users to invite their close friends and family to answer prompts for their profile. Whoever is invited will be able to answer the prompts for them by text, voice recording, video, and photos. It’s a feature that makes total sense, considering Hinge research shows that 79% of Hinge daters rely on friends and family for advice about their dating lives.
A problem Hinge daters run into is figuring out how to portray themselves in an authentic way, but with this feature, users will be able to have the help of friends and family to show others who they are. The people closest to us often see and describe us in a way that can be difficult to recreate on our own; Friend’s Take brings that trusted perspective directly to the Hinge profile.Â
Friend’s Take helps people get to know the user better by allowing the people closest to the dater to describe how they see and know the dater. It also lets potential matches be able to see daters through the eyes of the people who know them best.
how does the Friend’s Take Hinge feature work?
This feature will be available starting July 15. Hinge users will be able to send a unique link to anyone they trust — this can be their close friends, family, or even someone in their community. The person receiving the link will not be required to have a Hinge account. The link expires after 72 hours, or after 10 people have responded to the link. Anyone who receives the link can choose a Prompt to answer about the dater via text, photo, voice note, or video response. The user will be able to see the responses and be able to feature three takes to display on their profile. Friend’s Take can be switched out or rearranged at any time, too.
Showing up as your true, authentic cam be scary — but it can be a little less intimidating with the help of the people closest to you. Plus, this feature can help you and your match get an idea of the people you surround yourself with, which is very important when it comes to dating. Just be sure to be selective to who you send the link to and make sure whoever gets one puts in a good word for you!
