12 Halloween Costumes For Polyamorous Relationships

As a queer, polyamorous woman, there is one thing I couldn’t help but notice as I see more and more Halloween content on social media: there is a severe lack of costume inspiration for polyamorous relationships.

If you’re anything like me, then the best part of Halloween is being able to dress up with your partner. I, like many others, have started to look for cute costume ideas for me and my girlfriend. But as I’ve been scrolling through TikTok and Pinterest searching for inspiration, I realized something: I rarely see any costume ideas for polyamorous couples. And honestly? I think the world could always use more polyamory representation.

Being polyamorous doesn’t — and shouldn’t — mean that you and your lovers have to miss out on the fun of dressing up on Halloween together. Even though I’m currently in a closed, monogamous relationship with my partner, I still feel for my fellow polyamorous folks and understand the struggles that come with being polyamorous in a non-monogamous relationship. And, yes — that includes finding a Halloween costume.

Coming up with costume ideas that don’t come off as just a group costume can be hard, and not having a lot of representation can suck sometimes, but don’t worry! I’m here to assure you — and your lovers — have some costume inspiration this spooky season.

Without further ado, here are 12 costume ideas for polyamorous couples.

Tashi, Art and Patrick from Challengers

You know I had to start strong with one of the most iconic (and arguably most popular) throuples of all time — Tashi, Art, and Patrick from Challengers. This is the perfect costume for you and your lovers if you want a costume that’s easy to put together. If your lover is dressing up as Patrick, have them wear a grey T-shirt with “I told ya” on it, a pair of black shorts, and tennis shoes. If your other partner is going as Art, they can wear a red T-shirt over a long-sleeve white shirt, black shorts, and tennis shoes, too. To dress up as Tashi, wear a white tennis dress with sneakers. Grab a couple of tennis racquets and balls, and you’re good to go!

Or, if you want to reference that scene (IYKYK), grab a pink zip-up hoodie and a pair of black shorts. Have whoever is going as Art wear a grey T-shirt and black plaid boxers, and whoever is going as Patrick wear a long-sleeve green button-down shirt with white stripes and black shorts.

Bella, Edward, and Jacob from Twilight

On the same topic of popular love triangles and trios, you and your partners can dress up as Bella, Edward, and Jacob from Twilight. To dress up as Bella, you can wear any tight-fitting top, skinny jeans, lace-up boots, and a leather jacket or hoodie. The partner going as Jacob can wear a blue T-shirt, an olive green military-style jacket, black jeans, and boots. If your other partner is going as Edward, they can wear a grey sweater vest over a blue T-shirt, a black leather jacket, dark jeans, and black shoes.

Daisy, Gatsby, and Tom from The Great Gatsby

Another fun costume idea for a throuple would be Daisy, Gatsby, and Tom from The Great Gatsby. For Daisy’s costume, you’ll need a flapper dress, a feather boa, pearls, and a 1920s-style headband. For Gatsby, wear a beige or cream colored suit and pair it with a champagne glass. Tom’s costume is similar to Gatsby’s; his suit is navy instead of beige.

Oliver, Felix, and Venetia from Saltburn

While this trio technically isn’t a canon love triangle or throuple, this would still be a great polycule costume due to how entangled Oliver was with both Felix and Venetia. To dress up as Oliver, you would need a white blazer (and optionally paint leaves and vines on it yourself), white jeans, and an antler headband. To go as Felix, you’d need a white tank top, jeans, and a pair of golden angel wings. And for Venetia, a purple sequin jumpsuit, pink sequin jacket, pink polka dot heels, and a pair of pink heart-shaped sunglasses.

HUNTR/X from K-Pop Demon Hunters

If you and your partners want a costume that’s fun and recognizable, try going as the three-member K-pop girl group, HUNTR/X, from K-Pop Demon Hunters! If you want to go as Rumi, you can wear a white crop top with a cropped bomber jacket, shorts, and boots. You can also braid your hair. For Mira, wear any graphic crop top, a yellow denim skirt, and boots. And finally, if you’re going as Zoey, you can throw your hair up into space buns and wear a teal halter top, cargo pants, and sneakers.

The Powerpuff Girls

If you and your girls want something that’s still cute but a little simpler, try going as the Powerpuff Girls! For this costume, each person will wear the color associated with each character. Whoever goes as Blossom wears red, whoever goes as Bubbles wears blue, and whoever goes as Buttercup wears green. One of the best things about this costume is that you can be as cute or sexy — it really just depends on what you and your lovers want and decide to wear.

Frank-N-Furter, Rocky, Magenta, and Columbia from The Rocky Horror Picture Show

If there’s any costume idea on this list that’s extremely polycule coded, it’s this one. This costume is basically Frank-N-Furter and his lovers — present and past. For Frank-N-Furter, you can wear pearls, a black corset, black shorts, gloves, fishnets, and heels. Rocky’s costume is simple: grab a pair of gold shorts, and you’re good to go. To dress up as Magenta, you’ll need a maid costume, black tights, and flats. Columbia’s costume consists of a golden top hat, a red bow tie, a gold sequin blazer, a black tube top, black shorts with colored stripes, tights, white socks, and a pair of black heels.

Maddy, Cassie, Nate, Jules, and Rue from Euphoria

Fans of Euphoria will know that this costume references an extremely messy, intertwined love triangle. For Maddy, you can either wear a purple two-piece set or a black dress with a keyhole cutout, black gloves, and a pair of sandals. To go as Cassie, you can wear a turquoise mini dress or a plaid blue button-up over a blue dress. For Rue, all you need is a hoodie, cargo shorts, and sneakers. For Jules’ costume, layer a dress over a long-sleeve shirt with sneakers (and don’t forget that bike). And finally, for Nate, wear a flannel over a T-shirt and jeans.

Donna and the three dads from Mamma Mia!

Speaking of complicated romantic entanglements… if Mamma Mia! is one of your comfort movies, this one’s for you! I personally think a hilarious costume idea would be Donna and her three potential baby daddies. To dress up as Donna, you can wear denim overalls over a white linen shirt and sandals. For Sam, wear a cream colored button down shirt with brown pants and a tan leather jacket. For Bill, wear a Hawaiian T-shirt and shorts. And finally, for Harry, wear a button-down with a blazer, slacks, and loafers.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

This costume gives a fairytale a fun twist — think of it as Snow White having seven boyfriends. If there aren’t eight people in your polycule, don’t worry! You can still do this costume. To go as Snow White, you can wear a blue corset, a yellow skirt, a red headband, tights, and flats. For the partners going as dwarfs, have them wear different colored T-shirts, jeans, and a hoodie.

The Mystery Gang from Scooby Doo

Did anyone else get the vibe that the Mystery Gang was just a giant polycule growing up and that everyone in it was bisexual? Just me?

To go as Fred, wear a white shirt with a blue collar and an orange scarf under the collar, with jeans and sneakers. For Daphne, wear a purple dress with a green scarf around your neck and heels. To go as Shaggy, wear an oversized green T-shirt with brown pants. And to go as Velma, wear glasses, an oversized orange sweater, a red skirt, and flats. If someone wants to go as Scooby, have them wear all brown and a blue collar around their neck.

The Power Rangers

And finally, my favorite and silliest idea on this list: The Power Rangers (but if they were in a polycule). If you don’t want to spend $50 on a morph suit you’ll only wear once and/or don’t want to wear a morph suit at all (I don’t blame you), don’t worry! All you need for this costume is to dress up in the color of the Power Ranger you want to go as, put on a pair of visor sunglasses, and throw on some white accessories.
