Dua Lipa’s song “Training Season” is going viral — and for good reason. In the song, Lipa sings about her standards for her future partner, and many are saying the song is how she manifested her now-husband, Callum Turner. And since Lipa herself said the song was “almost like a manifestation” when it came to her love life, I know I’m not the only one wondering if it’s possible to manifest your dream partner — and how you can do it.
On The Drew Barrymore Show, Lipa spoke about manifestation and “Training Season,” saying, “I have to be careful what I write because sometimes I feel like they can come true because they become a mantra, then I say them over and over.”
I’m sure at some point, most of us have wondered if it’s possible to manifest the partner of our dreams — whether it’s someone we already know and have feelings for, a celebrity crush, or even just a person who fits all the standards of your dream partner. Let’s be real: dating nowadays is a challenge, and finding your perfect person can be hard. Being able to manifest your perfect person out of thin air would make things a thousand times easier — but is it even possible?
While finding your Prince (or Princess) Charming isn’t as simple as opening your journal, self-concept and manifestation coach Rozana Attia says that manifesting your dream partner is possible. Well, kind of.
Social media has made it seem like manifesting is done through certain actions, but Attia says manifestation isn’t as simple as making a wish on a star and hoping the universe delivers. “Manifestation is the practice of deciding who you are and what you believe is true for you, before your circumstances prove it, and then acting, thinking, and showing up from that decision consistently until your reality catches up,” Attia tells Her Campus. “Your self-concept: the story you’ve decided is true about yourself, quietly runs your life whether you’re aware of it or not. Manifestation is just making that process conscious instead of accidental.”
When it comes to how to manifest your dream partner, Attia says it’s more than just imagining what your dream partner would be like. According to her, manifesting your dream partner starts with one person: you. “You can’t force a specific person to feel something they don’t, and healthy manifestation isn’t about controlling another person’s free will,” Attia says. “What you can do is shift your own identity: your self-concept, your standards, the patterns you unconsciously repeat, so you stop attracting or settling for the same unavailable dynamic.”
To manifest effectively, Attia says it’s important to focus on yourself, get clear on your beliefs, and live like the person you want to be. “Start with self-concept work before you touch a vision board,” Attia tells Her Campus. “ Ask yourself honestly: ‘What do I actually believe I deserve in love?’ Journaling prompts that expose your real beliefs (not the polished, Pinterest-quote version) are more powerful than any affirmation script.”
Aside from self-reflection, Attia says that self-care is extraordinarily important. “Pay attention to your nervous system, not just your mindset: a lot of people say they want closeness but physically brace the second things start getting real,” Attia says. “That’s the actual block.”
Finally, Attia says that your mindset is truly the most important tool when it comes to manifestation. “Practice living as though you already have what you want,” she says, “not faking it, but letting your daily decisions, energy, and self-talk reflect the person you’re becoming, not the person still waiting.”
Trusting the process when it comes to manifestation can be hard, and it’s normal for doubts to come up, but Attia says it’s important to stick to your beliefs no matter what. “Trusting the process doesn’t mean sitting back and hoping,” she says. “It means checking in with yourself daily: am I acting like the person who already has this, or am I still looking for it? Doubt isn’t proof it’s not working; it’s just old programming trying to resurface, and this is when you get to practice breaking the pattern.”
Manifesting your partner is possible, but not in the way that social media makes it seem. The most important thing when it comes to manifesting is focusing on you — your self-concept, your beliefs, and your inner world. Take it from Lipa: While she did describe her future partner, she mainly focused on what she believed she deserved. So, if you’re trying to manifest the love of your life, remember to let go, trust the process, and believe that good things are coming your way. “Most people aren’t unlucky in love,” Attia says. “They’re operating from an old identity that keeps recreating the same story. Change the identity, and who you attract changes with it.”
