Easy, 5-Minute, Healthy Snacks

Across the nation many schools are closing, and classes are being transferred online much like Youngstown State University. All of us are now stuck inside doing school work, binge watching our favorite Netflix series, and stress eating all of our quarantine snacks. Now most of us probably tend to reach towards the bag of Doritos or the pint of Handel’s ice-cream that just seems to be calling our name. Here are a few easy healthy snacks that will not only feed those cravings but also make us feel good too! 

Apple “Cookies”

Prep time: 5 minutes

Steps:

1. Slice apples into circles, cutting through the core

2. Add peanut butter or peanut butter alternative on top of each circular slice

3. Add granola on top

4. Sprinkle dark chocolate chips on top OR melt dark chocolate and drizzle on top 

Yogurt Parfait

Prep time: 3 minutes

Steps: 

1.    Add 1⁄2 cup of vanilla Greek yogurt into a bowl or mason jar 

2.    Add small pieces of fruit of choice 

3.    Add 1⁄2 cup of vanilla Greek yogurt on top 

4.    Garnish with granola and fruit of choice 

5.    Drizzle honey on top 

 

Bananas with Milk & Sugar

Prep time: 3 minutes

Steps: 

1.    Cut up a banana into slices and place them in a bowl 

2.    Pour milk over the banana slices 

3.    Sprinkle 1⁄2 teaspoon of sugar on top 

 

Strawberry Banana Smoothie

Prep time: 5 minutes 

Steps: 

1.    Measure 1 cup of strawberries, remove stems, and add to blender 

2.    Add 1 banana 

3.    Add 1⁄2 cup of milk 

4.    Blend until smooth 

 

Peanut Butter Banana Quesadilla

Prep time: 3 minutes

Steps: 

1.    Add peanut butter to a whole grain tortilla 

2.    Slice a banana and put slices on 1 half of the tortilla 

3.    Sprinkle dark chocolate chips on top 

4.    Add sliced almonds (optional) 

5.    Drizzle honey on top (optional) 

6.    Fold over tortilla and slice into triangular pieces 

 

Strawberry Orange Sunrise Smoothie

Prep time: 5 minutes

Steps: 

1.    Add 1 banana into blender 

2.    Measure 1 cup of strawberries, remove stems, and add to blender 

3.    Add 3/8 cup of orange juice 

4.    Add 1⁄2 cup of vanilla Greek yogurt 

5.    Add 4-5 ice cubes 

6.    Blend until smooth 

 

Trail Mix

Prep time: 2 minutes

Steps: 

1.    Mix your favorite nuts in a bowl 

2.    Add in mini dark chocolate chips 

3.    Add in raisins or any other dried fruit 

4.    Add in mini pretzel sticks
