Meet fashionista Melissa Schippers. Currently in her fourth year at Glendon college, Melissa is majoring in communications and minoring in psychology. “I love to write and I wanted to write articles like the ones I read online,” says Melissa on why she joined the Her Campus YU team last September. Indeed, Melissa’s articles are cute and fun. In Melissa’s articles there is much talk about celebrity culture, TV shows and girl power. Job: Office/Events assistant for the Glendon principal’s office and I work for the Glendon GoSafe team.

Age: 21, but turning 22 on February 12th!

Hometown: Ottawa, Ontario. (I’m really glad I moved to Toronto though)

Siblings?

I have one biological little brother (Zach, 16), a step-sister, two step-brothers (one of which has a daughter named Adeline and she’s the cutest toddler) and a sister-in-law (my niece’s mom). My parents are divorced and both remarried which is why I have step-siblings. But, of course, I’m closest to my little brother Zach since we grew up together. I can’t believe he’ll be graduating high school next year.

What kind of books do you like to read?

I love reading romantic YA books because they’re super cute.

What is your Starbucks order?

In the summer I always get one of their infusion iced teas and in the winter I get the salted caramel hot chocolate to keep me warm. (The only place I like getting coffee is Tim Horton’s. I love their iced coffee.)

What TV shows + movies do you watch?

I watch so much TV that it’s probably unhealthy. The shows I’m super into right now are The Royals, The Chicago series (Med, Fire & P.D) and The Good Doctor. For movies, I tend to watch rom-coms but around award season I’ll watch the movies that have been nominated for something.

What is your favourite spot on campus and why?

I’ve only gone to Keele a handful of times but my favourite spot at Glendon is the manor because it’s quite pretty.

What is something you are passionate about?

I’ve been doing theatre since I was 8 and since then I’ve gotten more and more passionate about acting, script writing, publicity and anything that relates to the entertainment industry.

What sorts of things do you do in your free time?

I spend most of my free time shopping, going out dancing with friends, reading, watching TV and putting on makeup for fun.

If you had to choose between cheese and pepperoni, which would you pick?

Cheese for sure, but I do like adding chili flakes on top of the cheese.

Favourite celebrity at the moment?

Harry Styles will always be my #1 but, right now I’m crushing hard on Jesse Lee Soffer from Chicago P.D. I also really admire Zoey Deutch, I think she’s a great actress who will have a lucrative career.

Favourite song?

I don’t have an all-time favourite song because I go through so many but recently I’ve been listening to The Bellas’ cover of “Freedom! ’90” from Pitch Perfect 3.

Favourite stores to shop at?

I love Honey and M-boutique!

Are you a cat or dog person?

I’m 100% a cat person!
