So, I’m going to be really honest for a moment. I completely forgot that I had an article to submit today. Mental Health Awareness week has just come to an end, and I need it to come back. Addressing mental health was refreshing and taking out time for self-care was so relieving. But now, a day later, everything has gone back to being so hectic with trying to balance school, club organizing, working, completing final projects, studying for final exams, and stressing about all of the content you haven’t covered. Therefore, I am struggling because I feel I cannot write this article on any topic other than this overwhelming feeling that I’m dealing with in good conscience, for our fellow readers will be disappointed in whatever topic I choose since I genuinely cannot think in depth about anything else right now. Whichever topic I choose to write on will simply be a reiteration of pre-existing and easily accessible information or ideas that can be googled.

If you are dealing with similar emotions at this point in the semester, here are a few ideas/questions to reflect on to help keep you going:

1. What are you doing right now?

2. Why are you doing what you’re doing?

3. Should you be doing something else?

4. Do you want to be doing something else? Make a list of three things.

5. Will doing some of the things that you want to do after exams be more satisfying once you’ve completed exams?

6. Will doing these things be more rewarding if you do well on your finals?

Based on your answers to these questions, try to make a short list on a notepad, even on your computer notepad, create a list of things to get done in December, including things that you want to do after finals. Order this list based on priority. If you want to work on two things at the same time, put them side by side on your list, but make sure that it is something which you feel you can work on simultaneously. Now follow that list. If there is a point where you feel that something is in the wrong spot, edit your list before you begin wavering from it, and keep a plan (at least until after finals).

Good luck and good health to everyone during this coming month.

Hey! I'm Stephanie Wilcox, and I am a professional writing major here at York U! I spend most of my time playing piano or ukulele and crying over books and boybands. I'm currently studying Korean as an elective, and I hope to do plenty of travelling after I graduate. I believe in fighting for a better, safer, and more equal future, especially through words and writing. This is my third year at York University, and I am thrilled to begin writing with Her Campus this year as a CC and seeing the impact we will be making here!
