In a world where the horizon is painted with endless possibilities, there are numerous uncharted territories to be explored. Traveling solo as a young woman is a taboo topic that doesn’t get discussed nearly enough. It can be both daunting and exhilarating to shuffle your surroundings, to wake up in places that you don’t know your way around, and to have conversations in languages that you can’t completely comprehend. This is certainly true, yet to experience such adventure can be one of life’s most rewarding experiences.

Picture yourself strolling through the cobbled streets of a historic city, savoring the aroma of local delicacies wafting from quaint cafes, or finding solace on a beach with nothing but the sound of crashing waves for company. These moments are not just picturesque; they’re a celebration of solitude.

So how are women making the most of solo travel and where are they going? I have come across two accomplished travellers in particular who provide their top tips for traveling solo — and the best places to travel alone as a woman.

Be My Travel Muse ~ Kristen Addis

Kristen Addis, born and raised in a Los Angeles suburb, sought her way out of the commonplace of public life and decided to pursue her passion and calling for more adventure and livelihood. She chose to nurture her creativity, following her passion to write and create. Kristen took her childhood dreams and made them into a tangible reality; she now holds a successful blog where she documents her beautiful journeys and experiences for the world to read. She has been recognized as a leader in solo female travel around the globe. Be My Travel Muse has become an empowering and informative space for women who wish to embark on a solo endeavor.

In one of her bloggings, namely “41 Ways to Stay Safe While Traveling Alone As A Woman,” Kristen provides tips to ensure a confident and safe adventure. This blog covers the do’s and don’ts of travelling abroad. Safety is paramount and meticulous planning becomes a trusted companion. From researching safe neighborhoods to staying connected with loved ones, these precautions ensure that the journey remains an empowering experience.

The Blonde Abroad ~ Kiersten Rich

Kiersten Rich, more widely known as Kiki, originally from California, took a hiatus from her corporate career in 2011 to embark on her solo travels; her very first, travelling through Austrailia, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Bali and New Zealand. Her summer of soul-searching was the kickstart that forever changed the course of her life. Kiki bravely rejected the limiting societal ideas of success and began creating a life that lit a fire within her heart. Since embarking on her very first solo journey, she has created a rebounding blog where we can follow her around the world. The Blonde Abroad is an inspiring and encouraging space where all your travel inquiries will be taken care of.

Having already travelled 71 countries around the globe, Kiki takes to her blog to write about the “10 Safest Destinations for Solo Female Travellers.” Choosing the perfect destination for a solo escapade is an art; it’s a delicate relation between personal interests, safety, and the magnetic pull of a locale’s unique charm. The canvas is vast, and the possibilities are endless.

If you are a young woman who is contemplating embarking on a solo journey, definitely take a look at these two accomplished women who have successfully ventured out and taken the road less travelled! Their blogs can be extremely helpful guides in getting started and of course, taking the necessary precautions to ensure a safe and comfortable travel.

As you stand on the precipice of your solo adventure, remember that the beauty of solo travel lies in the unexpected, in stumbling upon hidden gems and serendipitous encounters. Choose a destination that ignites your curiosity and script your own extraordinary story.
