Whether it’s intentional or not, the way that one adorns themselves—their style, becomes a significant part of their identity. Most women in university don’t resort to wearing the same things every day. Perks of choosing your outfit the night before. Thus, whether a go-to article of clothing is track pants or a polished blazer, choosing what to wear and what to pair together still takes considerable effort.
1. Avoid Stress
Having nice clothes ready for me in the morning not only makes me less cranky, but I even get to sleep a little bit longer. You can wake up even later if you shower at night. Personally, I don’t feel entirely awake in the morning without taking a shower. And if my clothes aren’t ready for me, after taking a shower I spend a good long time leaning on the side of my closet door in a towel, just staring into my clothes.
2. Save Time
You don’t necessarily have to sleep longer. The time that you cut down on by not having to try on various outfit is significant. Use this extra time to eat breakfast, pack a healthy lunch, do a quick workout, spend more time doing your hair and makeup, or simply take your sweet time to get ready.
3. Avoid Turning Your Room Into a Cave
If not in a rush, you’re less likely to be throwing the various outfits that you try on around the room when you decide that they are inadequate.
4. You’re Thinking Clearly
It’s much easier to figure out what to wear in terms of planning for the day ahead when you’re within a clear mindset. Your brain will probably be significantly groggier in the morning (if you sleep like most YorkU students) and you will miss something.
5. Morning Moods Will Not Dictate Your Appearance
We often resort to sweats on lazy or gloomy mornings. If your outfit is all ready for you, this is less likely to be the case. Also, when you’re dressed up, you automatically feel better. Even if you decide that tomorrow is a day that you need to be wearing sweats, at least you have time to dress them up and still be comfortable. There are people who say that sweats are never cute. They’re wrong.
If you check the weather when preparing the night before, you’re more likely to be wearing something appropriate for the day ahead rather than simply dressing for how you feel in the morning. If you are in a rush, you are more likely to dress for how you feel in that moment. For instance, if you wake up incredibly sweaty getting out of bed, and you haven’t picked out your clothes ahead of time, you’re likely to want to throw on a t-shirt even though it’s the dead of winter outside.
6. You Can Achieve Perfection
You can make sure your outfit is ironed, matching, and accessorized the way that you want. Uh oh, there is a stain on your dress. Guess what! Since you’re not running out of the door in the next 20 minutes, you have time to choose something else.
Take the time to do something different with your makeup, put on some alluring perfume, choose your socks…
For a fancy outfit, you may need to spend more than a couple of seconds to find the right pair of shoes to go with it. Since you’re most likely not going to take your shoes off at school, don’t let that ruin the effort that you put into creating the perfect ensemble.
Although if you’re like me, and you don’t own much more than sneakers, this may be a problem.
You look hot. Smile. And there’s no point in all of the prep if you’re going to be late anyways, so get outta the door!
