Finals are just around the corner. This is the time of year that can make a dry-eyed college student weep and lay on the floor of a study room at 2 AM pondering all their life decisions. Sometimes, we like to come together and make it a group activity. We order pizza, eat way too much, and do work we thought we would do weeks ago. It is easy to complain about college. It is easy to complain about finals. I have multiple reasons why we should complain less (it is okay to complain a little) about finals. And considering the holidays, I think it is important to have reminders to be thankful for the little things!

1.   Not everyone gets to go to college/trade school

When it comes to college, especially private colleges like the one that I attend, it is easy to forget that not everyone gets to go to college for multiple reasons. Women being educated in things outside of the private sphere was unpopular in the past. As women, education is very accessible these days, and it is important to acknowledge that.

Now, people cannot go to college or trade school for multiple reasons. They may not have access to the funds, the knowledge (they may be first generation college students), or they may have to go straight into a full-time job to support others in their life.

This is one of the reasons I am thankful for finals because I have the opportunity to further my education!

2. spend more time with friends

Finals brings my friends and I closer. We stay up late, eat pizza, and drown together. It is one of the most memorable experiences that I have in college and there aren’t many people I would rather study, giggle, and go on adventures with!

3.     fun Finals week activities

I mentioned fun with friends, but my campus has some destressing activities that I personally enjoy (and of course can do with my friends!) These include Bingo and Breakfast at night, as well as midnight madness in the health center! There are a ton of things going on, and it is a really nice way to be social and not totally stress about finals!

4.  Winter Break!

For everyone who likes breaks, usually Finals signals the end of the semester. What comes next is a long break before the new semester starts. Spring Semester is just around the corner after Fall Finals! I celebrate Christmas, and the end of finals means that it is one day closer to one of my favorite holidays. I even get to exchange gifts with friends before I leave campus! For others, it could be one of many holidays they may celebrate. In the end, it is a really nice break!

Hope this convinced you not to stress too hard about finals! Good luck!
