Sleep Remedies to Help Your Restless Mind

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WVU chapter.

Sleep is one of the most important parts of being healthy, but college gets in the way. Being in college means either no sleep what so ever or restless nights staying up worrying about all of your responsibilities. Look at some of these tips to help your sleepless body get some well-deserved rest.

1. Take a warm bath or shower before bed.

This will help your body to relax and unwind after a long day.

2. Read a leisure book before going to sleep.

This always helps my brain shut off from school. Reading a book before bed can be dangerous if you get really into it, but it is another way to relax and slow down your body.

3. Start a sleep schedule.

This remedy may take a while to start, but it will be worth it in the long run.

4. Turn off the world.

Turn off your phone, laptop, TV, and anything else that connects you to the outside world.

5. Turn off all lights.

Yes, even your desk lamp. This will help your eyes get heavy and allow you to take a snooze.

6. Do not eat a few hours before you plan to go to bed.

Not eating before bed is not only healthier for you, but will increase your ability to sleep when the time comes.

7. Look up homemade drink recipes.

Pinterest has multiple recipes for sleep remedy purposes.

8. Limit caffeine intake.

We all have coffee running through our veins to keep us sane, but maybe miss your 5th coffee of the day.

There are so many ways to help get the sleep you need! These should help you get started on the beauty sleep we have all missed the past however many years.
