Summer break is quickly approaching and that means lots of time to hang around and do nothing. However, if you want to use your precious off time wisely, here are eleven ways to better yourself this summer!

Learn a new Language

Whether you’re planning on going on an exchange in the upcoming year or just want a new hobby, learning a new language is the perfect way to exercise your mind this summer. With tutorials on YouTube and language vocabulary apps it is super easy to start learning a new language at home.

Start to Cook

Summer is the perfect time to experiment in the kitchen, you can use lots of fresh produce that’s in season and perfect a couple of recipes that are sure to come in handy during the school year.

Exercise

During the summer is the easiest time to exercise, you don’t even need a gym membership because you have so many options outside; running, yoga, hiking and swimming are all great exercise activities that you can do outside whether you’re alone or in a group.

Meditate

Meditation decreases anxiety and increases happiness; it’s the perfect way to start up your summer morning.

Volunteer

Volunteering is such a rewarding experience and it’s a great way to spend your vacation. There are various ways to get involved and it can be a one time thing or an ongoing commitment depending on your interests.

Keep a Journal

Journaling is an excellent way to lay out all your thoughts and realize what you really want to accomplish with your life.

Read

Create a reading list at the beginning of the summer of all the things you want to read; trashy, classics, biographies, and everything in between. Summer is when you don’t have class reading to do; embrace reading for leisure.

Drink More Water

Water improves your whole life, drinking more is always better, especially in the summer.

Go Somewhere Alone

Whether it’s going to the movies, hiking or on a full-fledged vacation, you should go somewhere alone. Travelling alone is a great way to become more confident in yourself, and it means you can do whatever you want and not have to settle because of other people!

Be Creative

Pintrest is the best creation ever! Release your crafty side and try some summer inspired DIY projects.

Plan ahead

Preparation is the key to success; if you plan out your day you are less likely to waste it.
