As soon as Halloween ends one year, it’s time to start planning next year’s costume. Before you know it, pumpkins, fall, haunted houses and scary movies are right around the corner and you want to be prepared. Some of us may resort to the classic animal, police officer, or sports player, but others strive to think of the most creative costume possible. They don’t always have to be so difficult though! There are a ton of easy and creative ‘punny’ costumes at the tip of your fingers and I’ve brought them all together in one place:

1. Spelling Bee

If you have a little bit of a nerd side in you, but don’t want to fully dress in a nerd costume, this is the perfect variation as it is a mix of cute AND smart—the combination everyone strives to be. It’s simple: dress like a bumble bee and tape words all over your body.

2. Fantasy Draft

If you’re looking to be a guy’s dream girl, this one is for you. Dress up in your favourite football jersey or borrow one from a friend with a DIY wizard hat and wand—maybe even add a white beard for a humour points.

3. Party Animal

“G’yal you’re a party animal,” the song itself should make you want dress up as this. Who doesn’t want to be the life of the party, but also a cute animal? Throw on your favourite animal ears (I always choose a mouse), and wrap yourself with streamers and a birthday sign, while wearing a party hat.

4. Pig in a blanket

Animals are always a go-to costume because all you have to do is throw on a pair of ears. However, that can be boring; if you’re looking for the easy way out to wear the animal ears but not be boring, this creative costume is for you. Put on some pink clothes, pig ears and wrap a blanket around you. They say you are what you eat!

5. Nickelback

Every time I think of this costume it makes me laugh. Sure, you could throw on a wig and sing about a photograph but this pun is easier and better. All you have to do is tape lots of nickels to your back and you have become Nickelback!

6. Dumbledora-The Explorer

This is my ultimate favourite. If you’re an avid Harry Potter fan, like myself, but also have a sense of humour, this is the perfect costume for you. Combine your favourite childhood show with your favourite fantasy movie.

Don’t feel stressed if you’re lacking on creative halloween costumes: puns are the way to go. They are funny, creative, easy to do, and most of which are DIY! Have fun with it; puns are constantly being created on a daily basis, so a challenge would be to think of your own original pun!
