As the year comes to a close, that can mean only one thing: New Year’s Eve parties. This is the last chance of the year to put on your favorite going-out fit, throw on some sparkly eye makeup, and hang with your besties before the clock strikes 12. From there, it’s time to pop a bottle of bubbly (if you’re 21+, that is) and dance the night away! But, above having fun, one of the most important parts of going out on NYE — or any night, for that matter — is staying safe.
While this has been said many times, it can always be said more: You should never drink and drive, even if you’re only “slightly” intoxicated. You also should never get in the car with someone who has been drinking. Before going out — even if there’s only a chance you might drink — planning for a safe ride home is crucial, especially on NYE, where the number of fatal accidents caused by drunk drivers tends to rise by around 89%, according to Money Geek.
But simply saying, “Get a rideshare,” isn’t as easy as it may sound, as NYE festivities cause some of the largest surge prices of the entire year, with the biggest jump in costs happening between 12 a.m. and 3 a.m., according to Uber. But the price of a sober ride shouldn’t keep you out late if you want to go home, or force you to call it a night early. Considering this, numerous rideshare companies, government organizations, and independent businesses are offering New Year’s 2026 rideshare promo codes, coupons, and discounts to ensure a safe ride home this New Year’s Eve. Washington D.C.
If you happen to live in the nation’s capital, the Washington Regional Alcohol Program (also known as WRAP) is offering a Holiday SoberRide code from Dec. 19, 2025, to Jan. 1, 2026. SoberRide offers free Lyft rides home up to $15 in the D.C. area, with each nightly code posted on the WRAP website at 9 p.m. EST. To claim, enter the code in the Lyft app’s payment tab under the Add Lyft Pass option, then you’re good to go.
Oregon
The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) will provide a limited number of coupons for discounted Uber and Lyft rides. Starting within Portland city limits, the coupons will be available between 7 p.m on Dec. 31, 2025, and 4 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2026. To get $10 off either your Lyft or Uber ride home, click on the link available on the PBOT Safe Ride Home website, which will be released on Dec. 31.
Florida
For those in Manatee, Sarasota, Charlotte, and Hillsborough counties (based on eligible zip codes), Hale Law is offering $20 vouchers for Uber rides taken between 1 a.m. Dec. 31 and 1 p.m. Jan. 2. All you have to do is fill out a quick form on the company’s website.
Texas
Act fast to take advantage of the Lone Star Injury Attorneys’s NYE New Year No Regrets initiative! Just 50 vouchers — worth $15 each for whatever rideshare service you use — will be available. So, sign up on the law firm’s website and hope you’re one of the lucky few.
Illinois
Through the Disparti Law Group, starting at 5 p.m on Dec. 31, 2025, through 10 a.m. Jan. 1, 2026, 1,000 Uber vouchers will be available for Chicagoland residents. The voucher is redeemable for up to $20 and must be used within the Chicago metro area. Just go to the law firm’s website and click to claim your voucher.
North Carolina
On qualifying holidays — including NYE, of course — rides taken within the Charlotte, North Carolina, area between 5 p.m. on the day of the holiday and 10 a.m. the next morning are eligible for up to a $25 reimbursement from Mehta & McConnell, PLLC. To claim your reimbursement for your Uber, Lyft, or cab ride home, submit a copy of your receipt and ID to the law office, which can be found on the law firm’s website.
Michigan
Michigan’s largest injury law firm, Mike Morse Law Firm, is giving away 2,000 Uber vouchers from Dec. 11 to Jan. 1. The vouchers will be for a maximum value of $20 and can only be applied to rides taken within Michigan from Dec. 31, 2025, at 5 p.m to Jan. 1, 2026, at 5 a.m. To claim your voucher, give your first and last name, email, and phone number on the firm’s website.
New York
In New York, William Mattar Law Offices is offering $20 Uber discount vouchers through its Safe Ride Home 4 the Holidays program. All you have to do is complete the registration form on the firm’s website, check your email, and claim your voucher in the Uber app. These vouchers can be redeemed from 8 p.m. on Dec. 31 through 8 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2026.
