Chic for Cheap: Looking Sweet to Sweat

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wake Forest chapter.

Why do we exercise? In an environment filled with as many really, really ridiculously good-looking people as Wake, a collegiette might answer, “To fit in.” For real, though, we shouldn’t be active solely for the sake of looking good. Just as Derek Zoolander once said, “Did you ever think maybe there’s more to life than being really, really, ridiculously good looking?” BUT, I’m not telling you to throw in the towel yet on working out; I’m just saying let’s take a new approach. Be active to feel good and stay healthy. Do it to move your body and enjoy that movement.

Sometimes, a great workout look can do the trick on those days when you don’t want to move a muscle. A chic outfit can motivate you to get out there and just do it.

With brands like Lululemon, Victoria’s Secret, and hundreds of other designers threatening your wallet, let’s look at some cheap alternatives for cute workout wear.

There you have it: some cheap options for a colorful and active day! Notice, tennis shoes were not included because that is something you might want to drop a pretty penny on. Correctly-fit shoes are essential for safety and comfort during activity. With safety in mind, you can still find tons of colorful and customizable options of tennis shoes to go with the Blogilates-inspired looks pictured. Work out for the feeling, collegiettes, not the result, and remember: it’s not what you wear but how you wear it!
