Workout Sesh: 5 Workout Classes You Should Try

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Valdosta chapter.

1. Hot Yoga

It’s getting hot in herre, at almost 100 degrees! Hot Yoga is a flowing yoga class done in a room heated to about 90 degrees. Hot yoga often seeks to replicate the heat and humidity of India where yoga originated. Sounds crazy, but the heat actually helps to increase flexibility within yoga poses! Crazy enough to give it a try? Check it out at Sutherland Yoga Studio!

2. Pole Fitness

Staying in shape has never been so much fun! Meet your new dance partner “the pole”! Learn beginner pole, dance and floor moves that tighten and tone your body. Ease into this new body movement that will improve your self-confidence and increase your strength. Learn how to incorporate your new moves, strength and confidence into your first routine! Interested? Check it out at Dance Motion Studio!

3. Booty Work

Yes, girl! Work that booty, get your Jen Selter on! Booty work is a lower resistance class using different methods in order to tone your booty. This class will definitely get you the perfect booty that you’ve been longing for! It is offered at the Student Rec and is free for all VSU students. Check it out every Wednesday at 9:00 p.m. with Christine!

4. Insanity

CHALLENGE YOURSELF! This 45-minute workout will have you sweating in just the warmup! It’s insanely tough, but the results are insanely amazing! With Insanity, you use your body to create the best body you can get. You work flat out in 3 to 5-minute blocks, and take breaks only long enough to gulp some air and get right back to work. It’s called Max Interval Training, because it keeps your body working at maximum capacity through your entire workout. Insanity is also offered at the Student Rec and is free! Classes are Mondays at 6:00 p.m., Thursdays at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 9:30 p.m. with Jen!

5. Tai Chi

Use Tai Chi as a means of recharging and recovering your body from aches and pains through muscle control! Tai Cheng will offer better balance, flexibility, improved joint function, wider range of motion, less stiffness, and an overall feeling of natural energy and well being. Tai Chi is free to all VSU students every Monday and Wednesday from 8-8:30 p.m. in the University Center Magnolia Room. You can register here!
