Trust me, being healthy and active every single day can get very routine and old at times. Especially after spring break, with the end of the semester it’s hard to get yourself to the gym. I’ve been working out consistently for a while now, and these five things help get my butt to the gym every single day!

1. Switch up your workouts

This is the most important piece of advice I can give to help stay motivated. Doing the same exercises with no variation day in and day out can become boring, making you unmotivated. Instead, try changing up your workouts every few weeks. Trust me it does wonders! Oh did I mention it also helps you prevent from plateauing?

2. Workout with someone who has similar goals

A gym buddy is fun, however someone with similar goals is a must. You don’t want to work out with someone whose goal might be to lose weight, when yours is to gain. A gym buddy with similar goals will help push both of you to your fullest potential! Photo by Filip Mroz on Unsplash

3. Set Goals

This is key. Without goals you are working towards nothing and that is the number one reason why people lose their motivation. I know a lot of people’s motivation was to look good for spring break, but what about after? Making small attainable goals will help give you a reason to work out! For example, you may want to lose five pounds in a month or maybe you want to reach a new max in squats! Whatever your goal may be, write it out and keep a log of your progress. I guarantee you will see results!

4. Make a set workout time and plan ahead

Planning my workouts the day before really gets me excited and itching to get in the gym! I pick out my outfit and get everything ready the night before, I even write out what I am going to do the next day. If you are trying to find new workouts to switch up your routine, this is the time to do it! My favorite thing to do is watch my favorite fitness youtubers videos and choose workouts to try that catch my eye!

5. Cute workout clothes

Okay I know this sounds crazy but stay with me. Have you ever gotten an outfit that you just can’t wait to show off? Whenever I’m not feeling the gym I find my cutest outfit and it instantly gives me a little incentive to go!

There you have it, my five ways to stay motivated in the gym! Life can become overwhelming and sometimes the gym can seem impossible to go to, but with my tips it will seem impossible to leave! Just know you can do whatever you set your mind to, it just takes a little bit of time. What’s your favorite motivations to workout? comment below and let me know!
