The burning question that every college student has been asked: “What is your major?”

Before getting stressed about not having a clear vision or major in mind, take a deep breath. Most college students change their majors several times throughout their college career. Here are some helpful tips to help you narrow down topics that are of interest to you.

Take classes from the best professors on campus

Even if it’s a subject or class that wouldn’t otherwise be of interest to you, take it. This will help you narrow down your choices. Good professors have passion, and you will quickly decide if you catch that passion or not. The app rate my professor, can be useful at determining what professors to pick.

Study Abroad

It may seem like a weird way to discover your passion, but exploring outside of the country, will help you gain new perspective and may even provide insight into the certain classes you may be missing or find particularly interesting.

Volunteer

Sometimes it takes time and experience in a certain area of interest, to determine if it’s the best fit for you. By volunteering, it allows for hands on experience, and will help you decide if it’s the right fit for you.
