7 Things to Remind Yourself This Thanksgiving Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UW Lax chapter.

With Thanksgiving coming up, I think it’s the perfect time we take a step back for a little bit and realize how blessed and lucky we are here at UW-La Crosse. It’s so easy for us college students to get caught up worrying about our futures and our social lives, which are all VERY important, but it’s also important to take a deep breath and realize how lucky we are to be in this moment right now. Thanksgiving for me is the perfect time to forget the troubles in my life, spend time with the people I love, and take the time to recharge. These past few weeks I’ve found myself so caught up in the college life that I’ve forgotten my purpose, but after a long weekend to spend with my family I just know I will find some motivation again. I say we all take the time to re-evaluate our lives so that we can start back up in a week with more motivation and ready to take on anything that comes our way, until winter break at least. I came up with a list of things that we should all take the time to remind ourselves about this Thanksgiving!

1. Be Grateful

Next time you find yourself stressing about a test or a paper, remind yourself that life is good and whatever you are worrying about right now is most likely not going to matter in the near future.

2. Stay Away From Complaining

As humans, it’s just our natural instinct to complain sometimes. But complaining is such a waste of time, because complaining about something isn’t going to change it. Fill your mind with good vibes and good things will happen.

3.  Re-evaluate The People You Have in Your Life

After being around the people who love you the most this Thanksgiving, take the time to think about the people you have in your life right now. If they don’t have your best interest at heart, like you know your family does, maybe it’s time you cut them out of your life.

4. Life is good and it’s so important to remind yourself of that every once in a while. “Everything you are going through is preparing you for everything you asked for.” –

5. Live For Yourself

So many people live their lives just trying to please everyone, and I’m sometimes that person. But if you’re not happy with your life, you have to change it, even if the people in your life don’t agree.

6. It’s Not a Bad Life

You are going to have bad days; everyone has bad days. That doesn’t mean it’s a bad life. Tomorrow is a new day!

7.  Fill Your Mind With Good Thoughts

It’s so easy to think negatively when things are rough, but having good thoughts will change your attitude and whole life around!
