Finals week is stressful, and I know that when I get stressed I find myself munching on things that are not the best for my health. In addition, without much time, it’s tempting to eat things like pizza since it’s easy and quick.  But in the long run, these eating habits, even just during finals season, can seriously hurt your health. Below are some quick tips to keep you fit and healthy during finals madness!

1. Have Pre-Cut Vegetables: Take a break from studying for 20 minutes and cut up celery or carrots to have to just grab. It’s much easier to eat healthy if it’s available then if you have to take more time to make something. Eating celery might not sound so appealing, but if you throw some peanut butter with it, you make a tasty snack packed with protein!

2. Soup, Soup, Soup!: Soup is a great way to make something fast, filling, and low calorie. I like the Progresso ones, because they have a lot of stuff in them and fill me up. They only take 5 minutes to so to heat up and you can carry them with you in a mug if you need to run to the library.

3. Choose your coffee wisely: While I am always downing caffeine during the school year, not just during finals, try to stay away from drinks with whipped cream or lots of sugar. Regular coffee is always a safe bet, and if you want something more get skim milk to try to make it relatively more healthy.

4. Take Out Wisdom: If you’re going to order take out, there are better ways to do it then some. Don’t order pizza. No matter what kind you order, it will be caloric and greasy. Chinese food, on the other hand, can be done craftily. Order a vegetable dish with some chicken and make sure to hold on the sauce. While it still might not be the best, it’s definitely a better alternative.

5. Indulge (In Moderation): Yeah, we all need a little bit of chocolate here or there. If you go to the library, only bring a small amount with you and then when you finish you can’t have more. Try to reward yourself. If you finish a paper or finish studying, pop a chocolate! But moderation is key.

With these tips, you have all the tools to ace your finals while kicking those exam cravings the the curb!
