As the semester comes to a close it can be hard to maintain those good habits you’ve formed over the course of the year. Here are some easy ways to keep yourself feeling good until we go home for Winter break.
1) Maintain a regular sleep schedule. The end of the semester is approaching but the workload continues. Halloweekend and the end of Daylight Savings Time may prove to challenge the amount of sleep that one gets. Try to set goals for when you will sleep each night, and about half an hour before that time start winding down. This is particularly hard after Daylight Savings Time which makes it even more important to sleep. Also, wake up at a consistent time. This can allow your body to create a routine.
2) Get fresh air. As it gets colder outside, it’s easy to just hop on the bus everyday to go to class. However, it’s important that you expose yourself to fresh air and a little bit of exercise. If you don’t want to run in the chilly weather or trek all the way to the AFC, try bundling up and walking to class. Or, if it isn’t too cold, sit outside and take in the Fall atmosphere while you do some work. This will allow you to feel energized and not like you sat inside all day.
3) Eat healthy snacks. Avoid only eating prepackaged foods. Chex Mix is a convenient snack, but try having fruit instead. My personal favorite is an apple with caramel dipping sauce. This way, you can be guilt-free and still have a snack to munch on as you enter the final push of the semester!
