Life is full of negative people and unpleasant events. Because of that, we constantly put ourselves down for not living up to society’s expectations. Suddenly, if we don’t measure up then we are not good enough. There are some subtle steps we can take toremind ourselves that society’s standards do not mean a thing and to reach the ultimate goal: Loving who we are. Here are a few.

Show the love for your culture

We all have a story to tell; our background says a lot about who we are. Our customs mark our path and build who we are. Love those things about you.

If you speak a different language, don’t stop speaking in your tongue. Instead teach others and show them the beauty you hear in it.

Accept what makes you different

Your story is not the same as your neighbor’s or that hot celebrity on T.V. Stop trying to fit into shoes that weren’t meant for you. You have unique qualities that only you can use. There is always going to be something that makes you who you are, that sets you apart. There’s a special way you do things in the moment you do them without even thinking about it. Oh honey, no one can do it like you do. Breathe and smile because being you is what you do best.

Embrace your differences

Love everything about you. Don’t let some’s ignorance bring you down. People will always try to bring you down because humans have a tendency to find flaws in the most beautiful creatures.

If you’re  a career women, a stay-at-home mother or if you put on your boots at 5 AM to go defend your country: Believe in yourself and hold on to those things that make you happy.
