Dessert Recipes that Start with a Cake Mix

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Utah chapter.

If you’re anything like me, you love sugar and don’t have much time for baking. Cake mixes can help you cut down on time, and if you do it right, no one will know the difference from something made from scratch. Here are my favorite recipes that start with a cake mix.

Chocolate Bundt Cake

Ingredients

1 package devil’s food cake mix

1 package instant chocolate pudding mix

1 cup sour cream

1 cup vegetable oil

4 eggs

1/2 cup warm water

2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F

Mix together everything but the chocolate chips

Stir in the chocolate chips

Pour batter into a greased bundt pan.

Bake for 50 to 55 minutes

Let the cake cool for around an hour before getting it out of the pan

Top with powdered sugar, chocolate frosting, coconut, or peanuts.

Black Bottom Cupcakes

1 8 oz cream cheese

½ pkg little chocolate chips

1 egg

1 c powdered sugar

Directions

Make the cake mix according to the package directions

Soften cream cheese and mix with egg and powdered sugar until smooth

Add chocolate chips and stir. Line muffin pan with cupcake paper

Put a little cake batter in the bottom of the cupcake papers. Add a blob (around a Tablespoon) of cream cheese mixture

Put more cake batter on top until the cupcake paper is ⅔ full.

Bake according to package directions.

Chill for 1 hour.

Shape dough into balls, roll in powdered sugar.

Place on a cookie sheet and bake at 375 degrees F 8-10 minutes; or until brown.

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

1 15 oz can of pumpkin

1 spice cake mix

1 cup chocolate chips

Directions

Mix ingredients together

Drop onto a baking sheet

Bake at 350 degrees for 15 min.

If these recipes are easy enough for me, then you can totally make them. Bon Appétit!
