You’re dragging your feet, you have no energy, and it’s harder to put a smile on your face compared to other days. You find yourself feeling insecure and unconfident (even when it’s not that time of the month), and you feel like you have the weight of the world on your shoulders or are unmotivated. This might be an indication of being in a funk. Funks are draining, and getting yourself out of one can feel like it’s impossible. There are a few ways to get yourself up and out of this inevitable hole and back on track.

Exercise

This is my personal #1. Getting up and moving can be the first struggle of being in a funk. You don’t want to move or leave your comfort zone, but exercising can help with that. Exercising is a mood-booster mentally and scientifically. Besides the release of endorphins, exercising makes you feel good inside and out. This first step can make you feel like you can achieve and take on the rest of your day.

Start Writing or Journaling

Writing down your goals, gratitude, or simply just how you feel on a daily basis can make a difference. Bringing awareness to your personal struggles and how you can overcome them makes you feel motivated and have control over your life.

Try Something New!

Get a new hairdo, change up your style, or even eat something new. Failing in a funk can make you feel like you’re stuck in the same old routine, but changing something up can bring a reset to your life.

Get Outside

This tip can be combined with exercising with a stroll or jog outside. Gain some Vitamin D and let the sun brighten your day, literally.

Have Fun

Whether it’s planning a trip or just a lunch with your girls, looking forward to something can help you get out of your funk.

Always remember, funks are temporary. You can overcome funks with just a few changes and baby steps. You won’t be stuck in a funk forever.
