The moment you step onto a college campus as a freshman, your life changes. The dial of stress and learning how to adult has been turned to 100%. Before you can thrive, you need to adjust to the lifestyle changes that have been thrown at you. Your schedule is going to change, your skin regimen is definitely going to change, and overall you may struggle for a little while. It’s okay! The first step to reaching your best self is by simply taking care of yourself.

1. Get Rid of the Negativity in Your Life

In order to feel like you’re living your best life, you want to surround yourself with positivity. Negative people are just going to bring you down. You are just starting college so find the people that support you and love you for who you are. You should feel safe with the people you surround yourself with. You should be able to talk about anything and know that in any situation, they will have your back.

2. Get Involved

The best way to find people similar to you is to join a club that you truly care about and sparks your interest. On a college campus, there are hundreds of opportunities for you to get involved. Whether it be through intramural sports or through volunteer service, there is something for everyone. More times than none if you cannot find anything, you can create it!

3. Workout

Endorphins help reduce stress. The easiest way to get them working is by heading to the gym. You could do cardio, weight train or even yoga. Anything to get your heart pumping and your brain feeling happy. This will get you through your day and in the long run, and your mind and body will thank you!

4. Try a Different Style

One of the best things about college is that you get to express yourself! No matter where you come from, college is a whole new world full of people who don’t know you. If you like the crazy green polka dot shirt, buy it! You do not need to worry about being judged. The best way to find what style is your own is by trying out different ones.

5. Get a Planner

I don’t know about you, but I live by my planner. It keeps me organized and I feel like I can manage everything I have on my plate. It feels good when you are in control of the little time you have. Also, it helps to write down anything and everything while in class, so a planner is the perfect place for it!

Though these aren’t the only things you can do, I hope this list helped you jumpstart living your best life!
