Poetic Mondays: Promise me…
This monday we’re featuring our very first poem and a special one, not only because it was written by one of our HCUPR contributors but it also tells a tale of love that most of us know too well. Hope you enjoy it.
Promise me
that when all this is over,
when we’ve played our last cards
and said our goodbyes,
when we’ve had our last everything
Last kiss…
Last hug…
Last look…
Last heartbeat shared
When the dawn comes
and morning threatens to tear us apart
ray by ray
Promise to remember me
Promise to look back at least once
if only to remember the late night talks
and remember the hugs and kisses that made up all the mornings before that;
all the looks we shared
secretly…
like a sin waiting to happen:
a crime being committed
in the air between us;
our souls calling out
but our minds disagreeing.
Remember every breath we shared
trying to melt into one
and remember all the moments
The good ones
The bad ones
and remember the exact moment
in which I was scared
but fell anyway
and while drunk I said it outloud
because I knew you were worth every single tear I let out.
So remember me,
if not for your sake,
at least remember me for the mere fact
that these moments happened
that they were once part of a beautiful story
a beautiful moment in time we wished to pause
and that is worth waking up my memory
One Last Time.
