There has definitely been a point when we lose our self-esteem and feel like we are not worthy enough. Growing up, I always felt insecure about how I looked, how I presented myself, and focused on people’s opinions. During this quarantine period, it is easy to fall into a dark hole filled with our emotions, struggles and flaws. It is obviously not easy to work on ourselves and boost our self esteem. These are tips that helped me in boosting my self esteem

1. Becoming your own baddie

With social media having its standards on how people should look to be considered beautiful, it could be hurtful because we feel like we would never be enough. To feel better about myself, I decided to focus on my mental health and dress up sometimes. I also figured out that it wouldn’t hurt me to praise myself and appreciate myself all the time. Sometimes I look in the mirror and hype myself. Although this may not be a permanent solution to some people, it helped me work on myself and accept my flaws

2. Cutting off bad energy

Be it your family or best friends, bad energy hurts our self-esteem way deeper than we could ever imagine. Evaluate who you have in your life at the moment, and think about whatever impact they have had on you and how they have encouraged your growth. If this person seems to complain all the time, compare you to people, or make fun of you as a “joke,” this person does not deserve you. It is better to cleanse your mind and have the right people by your side

3. Have a trusted friend

Sometimes, what bothers us is a lot bigger than what we can handle. You could confide in a friend who is ready to help you become a better person. Sometimes you could plan small activities like cooking, taking walks, or having a car conversation while ranting with your favorite person. Things may get a bit emotional, but remember it is for the better.

4. Write out your feelings

Whether having a blog, journal, or having a passion for writing poems, these are good ways for you to express how you feel. Writing how you feel is a good step in analyzing how you can work on yourself because you take time to reflect on ways to feel better. Someday, you’ll look back at your writing and wonder why you felt that way.

Having a high self-esteem is not easy to attain. But with a step-by-step process, we would learn to overlook our flaws and become better.
