We all know how intimidating it can be to walk into the gym, especially when you’re unexperienced. Be ready to sweat those fears away with these tips to give yourself a confidence boost next time you hit the gym!
1. WEAR WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL MOST COMFORTABLE
Whether it’s wearing a big ol’ baggy shirt and a loose pair of shorts, or a crop top and some leggings, own it! Don’t worry about other people’s opinions or them staring you down. For example, if you have a very visible camel toe, which can immediately make you feel uncomfortable to do the movements, I recommend either owning it and realizing no one’s actually looking at you, or simply covering it up with a sweatshirt or long shirt! You’re at the gym for the same reason as everyone else: to work your ass off! Wearing whatever you want can motivate you to do better because you’ll feel more comfortable when doing your workout.

2. DON’T BE SCARED TO TRY SOMETHING NEW
If you find yourself contemplating whether or not to try that new machine or go into the depths of the weight room, it’s not as bad as you think it is! In fact, everyone starts somewhere. Once you try something you’ve been wanting to try for a while, you’ll be surprised of how much it can boost your confidence level. I remember the first time I went all the way to the back of the weight room because I wanted to try the squat racks. I saw the swarm of guys around the area and almost turned back because I didn’t want to look like a fool. I decided though that day that I was just gonna do it, because if I never did, I would never improve the way I wanted to. I ignored the guys and tried to figure out the rack myself and I did. The more I continued to use the squat racks, the more confident I got. I felt so much more powerful and capable of doing what I want in the gym. All you have to do is change your mindset! YOU ARE ALL CAPABLE OF DOING ANYTHING.Â
3. PLAN YOUR WORKOUT BEFORE HAND
When I first started going to the gym, I got bored so fast and wasted time on my phone because I didn’t have a structure to my workout that day. I would leave feeling unmotivated and helpless because I didn’t know enough different movements I could do without getting tired of it. As I became more serious about the gym, I started to plan out certain workouts for my arms, legs, booty, and even how I wanted to do my cardio. I would go on YouTube and look up body specific workouts and even started following fitness pages on instagram. I found it so interesting that there was so many different ways to work a certain part of your body, and not in a boring way either! Certain YouTubers inspired me to use some of their movements and incorporate them into my workouts. Once I wrote down all the workouts that I preferred and some that would challenge me a little, I jotted them down in my phone so I would always have my workout schedule by my side. Ever since then, I have been on my phone less and more driven to finish my workouts because they are customized and structured to a way that works best for me. I promise you this is life changing!
