As I sit and watch the people go by
They seem in a hurry
Like they’re thinking ahead
With an aching heart that’s hurting
Why won’t time slow down?
Our mistakes define our lives
Always looking further
With a fear of failing
We strive for perfection
And ignore excellence
A value for quantity over quality
With a desire to please
Always seeking something in the future
Without a thought of the present
Where is the thought of one another?
With a dark cloud of loneliness
Chances are given
And we take them for granted
Looking for a different horizon
With circumstances we can control
Life is not meant to be rushed
Please slow down
Take one thing at a time
We are not meant to be alone
Aching hearts need to be loved
Failure always leads to growth
A desire to be kind is impactful
Even through circumstances we can’t control
As I sit and watch the people go by

I know it is now my time to reach out
