As April rolls around in the school year, college students eagerly look forward to their last month of school. But with the final month comes final exams. April is filled with never-ending group projects, papers, presentations and tests. Stress is a normal feeling to have during a chaotic final month, but some people struggle a little more with handling stress than the average person. Like myself, the smallest amount of work can send my stress levels through the roof.

Over the years, I have learned small tricks to keep my stress and excessive worrying under control. These relaxation tips have kept the storm at bay as I tackle three papers and a study guide at once. These quick stress relievers have gotten me through the toughest days and allowed me to catch my second wind to finish the semester strongly.

My favorite way to take a break from piles of school work is taking a long bubble bath. I am not a bath person, but I am a sucker for one during a stressful moment. The best way to enjoy a bubble bath and unwind is to turn off all the lights, light your favorite candle, make the water toasty and add all the bubble bath your heart desires. A quiet and relaxing moment like this allows you to escape from reality for a moment to enjoy some peace before returning to a hectic school schedule.

If bubble baths are not really your thing, try something more vigorous. A good workout can get the blood pumping and release some endorphins. Those positive feelings will help grind through your toughest academics. A solid workout paired with your favorite music is a sure way to take a break from the stress of school work.

One of my favorite ways to unload my feelings is to write. Not everyone loves to write but sometimes spilling your emotions to a blank page with zero judgments is all you need. Take five minutes to write about everything that is bothering you and stressing you out. A weight will be automatically lifted off of your shoulders.

A final way to unwind is probably common among all college students: napping.

It is not the best way to get work done, but a quick power snooze can work wonders on the mind and the soul. A nice nap can refresh your brain and allow you to trudge through the grueling of endless work.

The final month can take a toll on college students all across campuses. Keeping your mental health in check is crucial to making it through the final month of school. The tips might not always work they are what I found works best.

Taking small breaks to enjoy activities that momentarily take your mind off work are crucial to staying strong through during the final month of school. Take some time to do whatever makes you happy and gets your mind off those papers you have due next week!
