Podcasts are small tools with a lot of impact. They can be utilized to increase knowledge on a variety of topics and learn about a new skill or phenomenon. Throughout quarantine, I began to listen to podcasts daily. Not only did I have extra free time, but I found podcasts to be entertaining and helpful to my personal progress. Podcasts are great for multitasking, as you can listen to them as you drive, as you cook or clean, and more.

In this article, I will discuss 7 podcasts that have been impactful to me and my self-love, self-care, and self-growth journey.

  1. Unconditionally Worthy” with Dr. Adia Gooden

In this podcast, Dr. Adia who is a clinical psychologist, helps girls and women along their journey to connect with the true source of one’s self-worth. She talks to many experts, who share their own experiences with low self-worth and recommendations for practices that one can begin on their journey. The episodes are typically under an hour, and the podcast is available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, and Audible.

2. “Slay Girl Slay” with Ashley Leggs

In this podcast, Ashley utilizes storytelling to uplift, motivate, and inspire women of color as they go on to pursue their dreams and show up authentically. The podcast episodes are typically under 20 minutes with new episodes posted weekly on Mondays. This podcast is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, and Amazon Music.

3. “Feminine Power Time” with Christine Arylo

In this podcast, Christine combines wisdom teachings with modern leadership and provides practical ways to make choices that empower the listener to create a life you love while incorporating work, family, and relationships, rooted in wholeness and wellbeing. The podcast is updated biweekly, and it is available on Apple Podcasts, Google Play, Spotify, and Stitcher.

4. “Naked Beauty” with Brooke DeVard

In this podcast, Brooke talks with many beauty brands and influencers about beauty trends, selfcare journeys, skincare, wellness, and beauty products people are loving. This podcast is typically updated weekly with a few bonus episodes. It is available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.

5. “The Hey Girl Podcast” with Alex Elle

In this podcast, Alex has created a space with sisterhood and storytelling in mind where she sits down with people who inspire her in intimate conversations. They share life lessons, ways in which they have grown, and their healing journeys. The podcast is updated weekly, and it is available on Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, Spotify, and Podbean.

6. “Pepp Talk Podcast” with Breeny Lee

In this podcast, Breeny gives advice for any and every possible situation you may face in your day-to-day life, including relationships, friendships, anxiety, and self-sabotaging behaviors. In addition to her advice, Breeny also provides practical tips to become the best version of yourself. The podcast is available iTunes, Spotify, and Google Podcasts.

7. “Balanced Black Girl” with Lestraundra (Les) Alfred

In this podcast, Les interviews a variety of Black women wellness experts who share advice pertaining to health, self-care, personal development, and well-being. The podcast is updated weekly with episodes ranging between 30 minutes and 1.5 hours. It is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Stitcher.

These are just 7 of many podcasts that I absolutely enjoy listening to on a weekly basis. Podcasts have become a very crucial part of my life, and I am happy that I began to listen to them, back in 2020. Whether you are new to podcasts or have been listening for awhile, I hope that you find at least one show that reaches you and brings you joy.
