Truth Serum: Staying Stress-free During Finals

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

After a relaxing Thanksgiving holiday the last thing UF students want to do is go back to school and spend countless hours in Library West. The final stretch of exams, projects and papers is coming to an end, but the stress level is slowly creeping up on each of us. When I find myself in a stressful situation, I try to set aside a couple of hours in the day for myself. I think your best bet is to make a to-do list and start checking off your tasks as the day goes by. I find this to be an efficient and rewarding way to manage your time, and it gives you a slight feeling of relief knowing you are almost done.

Here are some ideas that you and your friends can do in order to set aside some “me” time:

  1. Catch up on some TV recordings: My newest guilty pleasure is watching TV shows on Netflix when I get home from school. I limit myself to two episodes per day, and it’s a great way to relieve some stress by living vicariously through the characters.

  2. Make a hair or nail appointment the day before your final: I love doing this because to feel pampered for a few hours allows you to clear your head and treat yourself like a princess.
  3. Go for a Mochi run: If you find yourself easily distracted and hungry at the library, a yogurt run is the perfect indulgence and a study pick me up.

  4. Invest in a Starbucks gift card: Setting aside $25 in a gift card for coffee will help keep you up during those long hours at the library and give you an early Christmas feeling with their seasonal flavors.

  5. Pizza, pizza, and more pizza: After your final, invite your friends and indulge in some of your favorite pizza. What else can make you happier than pizza?

Truth is way may put a lot of stress and effort into finals, but the end result will leave us feeling relieved and exhausted. Why not take a couple of extra hours each day to give yourself some “me” time? I promise; it will make the week of finals go by faster and smoother.

Good luck lovely ladies!!!!
