Fun Fall Recipes I’m Thankful For This Season

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

In honor of the annual season of pumpkin, spice and all things nice, what better way is there to celebrate than with some recipes that are sure to give you the perfect taste of fall? I’m here to share some that are sure to get you and your stomach in that festive mood!

1. Pumpkin Dip

Fall, in my book, is the perfect excuse to make just about anything pumpkin flavored. It’s a taste that I can only get for a limited time each year and I never waste a second trying to find every recipe I can. Amy Johnson has made my dreams a reality with her Pumpkin Dip recipe. A sweet dip that can be enjoyed in so many different ways!

2. Baked Salads

TikTok has taken over with the latest food craze that is the recipe of my dreams: baked salad. Now, I know at first this sounds strange but hear me out. While salads are in at just about any point in the year, when those cooler months come around, a warm salad is just the things to get in those healthy greens while also adapting to the fall season. Luckily, creative TikTok chef and influencer, @justine_snacks, has the perfect recipe for your perfect baked salad.

3. Mulled Wine

This one is for my red wine drinkers, and it couldn’t be easier to make! Originating from ancient Roman times, spiced and warmed wine was a wonderful treat that evolved into many different recipes and styles using ingredients such as ginger, herbs, and pepper. Fast forward to today’s recipe — choose a bottle of red wine, (I recommend using something dry like a Merlot, Malbec, or Cabernet Sauvignon) add orange slices, honey, warm spices (ginger, allspice, cardamom, cloves, etc.) and let it simmer for 10 minutes. Some like to add an extra step by pouring in brandy to give it an extra kick of flavor, but of course it’s all completely optional and should be tailored to your unique taste!

4. Butternut Squash Mac & Cheese

The absolute perfect combination of creamy, cheesy, sweet deliciousness in a bowl. Butternut Squash Mac and Cheese holds a special place in my heart and stomach. It’s a personal fall staple piece of mine, so it feels like an essential to eat this at least once this season. If you have yet to try it or are ready to get cooking, Laura Manzano has a wonderful recipe!

5. Apple Cider Glazed Chicken

My mouth is beginning to water simply at the thought of this recipe. Jocelyn Delk Adam’s recipe balances the perfect combination of sweet and savory to her meal. Serving as a unique meal for this holiday season, this chicken is for sure a recipe that I will be returning to for seconds.

6. Stuffed Jack-o-Lantern Peppers

TikTok is at it again with another trend-setting recipe. As if stuffed peppers couldn’t get any more fun and delicious, TikTok went and once again proved me wrong. Simply update your original recipe by carving your peppers as you would a pumpkin on Halloween. TikTok chef, @jennifervalentyne, shared her Jack-o-lantern pepper recipe, and I can’t get enough.

7. Irish Coffee

A big thank you to my grandparents for introducing me to this boozy caffeine in a cup. Originating from Ireland in 1943 by chef Joe Sheridan, this Irish coffee has served as a holiday staple for years ,and now you too can create this simple signature drink. While I’d like to say it’s anything other than what it sounds like, I can’t. Take fresh brewed coffee and add your Irish whiskey (Jameson is recommended) and some cream (either heavy or whipped). That’s all there is to it!

8. Apple Crumble

A classic signature to the fall season! It’s easily one of my favorite desserts of all time. Looking for that warm, sweet, crisp taste? Look no further than Everyday Made Fresh’s apple crumble recipe.c (Take my advice and throw some vanilla ice cream on top!)

9. The Autumn Harvest Cocktail

Who doesn’t love a good apple cider around this time of year? Want to make it better? In a cocktail shaker, add 1oz apple flavored vodka, 1oz apple bourbon, and apple cider. Shake that mixture up and top with a splash of lemon lime soda and cranberry juice over ice!

Enjoy! Happy Fall!
