The Top South Asian-Owned Beauty Products On My Black Friday List

There are some exciting sales going on now that Black Friday is upon us. This article will shine a light on brands owned by South Asians. Many of these beauty products are rooted in Ayurveda and have clean ingredients that are not only good for you as the consumer, but for the environment. Perhaps you’ve had your eye on a brand-new haircare item or are searching for a multipurpose blush stick. Whatever it may be, you’re covered by this list:

MANGOPEOPLE

This Ayurvedic, all-natural makeup line quickly became popular on TikTok due to its organic and natural ingredients, like avocado oil and mango butter. Additionally, apples, carrots and cherries serve as the natural sources of all of Mango People’s pigments! The Multi-Stick ($24), which you can apply to your lips, eyelids or cheeks for a lovely pop of color, is the company’s best-selling item. It is available in eight hues ranging from pale peach to dark brown.

KULFI

I was intrigued to learn about the launch of the cosmetics company Kulfi Beauty because it is named after a famous South Asian dessert. This brand represents South Asian culture in every way, not just through its name. This attention to detail is likely because the founder, Priyanka Ganjoo, has dealt with similar issues within the beauty industry that most women of color have struggled with. The best-selling product in her lineup is the kajal. Kajal is something that most South Asian women have in their arsenal of beauty products, and it is nice to see how she has been able to successfully launch it in the West. I love the emphasis on self-celebration and how she was able to formulate bright colors for a product that is traditionally sold in black. This item takes eye makeup to the next level, and the formulation is amazing.

SHAZ AND KIKS

Two sisters who are passionate about Ayurveda in haircare and the influence it had on their upbringing created this haircare line. The pre-wash treatment is their best-selling item. A rich, plant-based hair mask that holistically cares for your entire hair ecosystem is made with 20+ nutrient-rich Indian Ayurvedic herbs, oils and flowers. This is a necessary first step to developing your healthiest hair. The smell of this product is its most distinctive feature. Though you shouldn’t anticipate it to have a pleasant scent, there is something reassuring about the aroma, which is reminiscent of a spice shop. Every week, I enjoy using this prewash mask because of its consistency and simplicity. It is currently sitting in my shower, and I look forward to using it every week.

AAVRANI

Aavrani founder Rooshy Roy was motivated to start this beauty company by the beauty rituals her grandmother performed on her as a child. She has soothing memories of her grandmother painting her skin with turmeric paste and oiling her hair in the kitchen. She reflects on how these times helped her define beauty and how these rituals are still an important part of her self-care routine. She created an entire skincare company based on Ayurvedic products as a result. The reviews speak for themselves: this is definitely a brand that you should have on your list this year if you are in need of some new skincare.

These are all amazing brands in the beauty world, yet they don’t get nearly as much recognition as they deserve. If you see something you like, now would be the time to support these brands and use their products!
